And yet pretty much everyone is getting visa to go there.

True, India should encourage outwardly mobile Sikhs to Kaneda. Just like Castro encouraged all bad seed Cubans to illegally emigrate to USA, he willfully sent criminals. Drug cartels, rapists to cross the waters into US. India should encourage those unwanted Khalistanis to move to Kaneda, send all its drug peddlers, addicts, criminals to go to Kaneda, give them safe passage and even facilitate them to move them across EU, SA and leave them at the Canadian border for it to handle. Canadian cities like Toronto, Vancouver are already infested with Khali gangs and having turf wars. Brampton is the crime capital of Kaneda. Send all the filth to Kaneda.

Khalistani supporters are everywhere!

USA

UK

As GOI has nothing better to do, it should plan its “hits” there too. How can they shout slogans against India in a foreign country and disrupt the proceedings in India?

(While the politicians continue with the corruption, an army official sells some secrets because he is honey trapped, …) :p:

They have become one of the most prosperous and politically powerful immigrant subcultures in the country. Those who fled in the early years included some political opponents of Castro, but the majority were middle- and upper-class people facing nationalization of their property and wealth. They came to the US, built new lives, and devoted themselves to loudly supporting the embargo, which has made life difficult for both the Cuban government and those who stayed on the island.

With the Mariel boatlift in 1980, a surge of immigration led the Cuban government to open its jails, supposedly sending thousands of criminals to Florida along with the other immigrants. This became a major political issue in the US.

“A small percentage of the Mariels actually were criminals. Some had been arrested for political reasons but they weren’t criminals. Castro did use the opportunity to make his problems America’s problem, but they were a small percentage of those who came. A small minority smeared the image of them all.”

Her book puts numbers to the question: 26,000 (of 125,000) of the Mariels had criminal records, mainly for minor crimes or political infractions. Approximately 2,000 had committed serious felonies.

From what I have heard, many folks are willing to pay lakhs or crores to go overseas! Whether legally through immigration, studies, work visas, etc., or illegally.

If GOI organized a scheme where it would help people settle abroad, it could get even more votes!

What is needed is better way to screen people entering India. A criminal can enter India on visa too (or even without visa). An OCI or a person with visa can be blocked from entering if the screening system is good.

All this do this or that usually impacts common people who are just minding their business. Those who want to commit a crime find a way to do it.

Has changing currency stopped corruption? It has only increased esp. at the higher level.

Should the west stop inviting people from India based on how few Indian behave?

When Daood Sayed Gilani comes documented as David Coleman Headley, Then all processes of time fail. Most of the time, a person is classed suspicious by immigration officer, ONlY if his Computer System says so.

Right now, if someone travels to India on VISA multiple times within a Year, its gets flagged to Immigration officer.

AI should be employed along with some sort of data sharing about individuals VISAs (May be sneakily access various VISAs on persons passport). But still, There will remain limitations

Because they have political power and resident Canadians support and vote for Hagmeet’s NDP . Trudeau minority  government ws in power with outside support from Hagmeet , sort of like Nitish/CBN. But seems like he has pulled the plug and Turdeau may lose power anytime

How does it "impact people"

Post brexit I have to fill a form for 10 min to goto the Eu.

Ditto the usa which brought in a form for uk nationals.

That's not any impact.

Have a similar system.

Impacting is if you stop all oci holders from inheriting tangible or non tangible property etc.

Crucially Hindus in Canada are divided by ethnicity. Big chunk of Hindus are Sri lankan Tamils. Canada has been sympathetic of their asylum needs.

Sikhs are ethnically and geographically more uniform. Easier to organise.

Because precious OCI holders can’t be bothered to fill out a form to visit a third world country like India that nobody apparently seems to care for. Why should OCIs have to do?

Yes, anyone who wants to beat the system will beat it. People even enter India without visas.

It is the common man that gets harassed by extreme laws. Also GOI makes a lot more money on OCI visas as the fees are relatively higher than a regular visas. Those interested in OCI have deeper family and business connections in India.

A person getting 2-3 weeks vacation per year is not likely to bother with OCI that much. Neither is a criminal wanting to hurt India (Pakistanis easily cross the border).

In the name of India this or that, the extreme ideas usually make the innocent, who want to abide by laws, suffer.

In a way, even the Khalistan issue can be seen as one b/w the central govt and  Punjab. We (people from other parts) cannot feel what many Punjabis feel about Punjab and India. People in Punjab should first decide what they want to do (Many would like to be with India). There are too many different voices.

Why is the voice from a far away place like Canada important? What has it achieved so far?

In Canada too, there are separatist movement in places like Quebec, which get overturned by people of Quebec themselves.

Sorry, but how does filling out a form come into this? You were talking about discontinuing OCI which means applying for a visa?

Even an NRI (could be a permanent resident of a foreign country) could be involved in anti-India activity, and an NRI needs no visa. An NRI can enter India based on his Indian passport.

Also visa applications are overburdening many consulates. And OCI brings in additional revenues for the GOI versus traditional visas.

Why should someone from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, etc. suffer because of what is happening in Punjab? Are Punjabis threatening these regions? Is the Khalistani movement creating sleepless nights for people elsewhere?

Or is a common person needs to suffer in the name of India, when many in India continue with crimes including corruption, treason, fake medicines, etc.?

Anyone can enter India on Indian passport, OCI, Visas, or illegally. It is proper screening that is needed at the points of entry (GOI is not that well equipped to hurt anyone doing anything against India from outside India).

Never claimed all Cubans were criminals. But it is true that some small percentage were criminals. India should do the same

It’s true I had an American colleague he was in the army he mentioned Cuba would send criminals to America. But India should nip this in the bud. Trudeau will be gone by next elections. They need to work with Pierre to clean up the khalistani mess.
