I'd open with SKY man...  Why not go for the kill at the start?  The probabilty of Kishan coming off at the top is same as SKY.  There is no question who is more destructive of the two.. Hassan Ali & Shaheen may get mauled in PP.

But not happening

I would have preferred SKY..had he been not so clueless against Starc..it just kills my confidence..to see him as opener against high quality left arm inswing..against 2 right armers..I may be little more comfortable..

SHaheen is not remotely as accurate or fast as Starc...  Nor does he has a slingy action like him.

SKY opens his front leg with his stance...  Pretty much what Rohit did vs Shaheen in Colombo.

Shaheen is very loose with new ball.  Couple of boundaries he will be all over the place.

I understand..but ball may move for Shaheen in Ahemdabad...and also SKY wont be mentally ready I blv..it will be his first match and directly against arch rivals..and that too opening..

also,I read Gill had an extended session with left arm throwdown specialist bowling 150 kph with the throwdown aid..if they are thinking about SKY..they shud have made him practice that too..

they will take a call on Gill on Friday..if he can sustain heat in afternoon..

I am seeing TM either going to get Gill back or go with Kishan..they are noy known to make bold moves..

That's why said open with Jaddu. We'll have 6 bowlers

Bumrah

Siraj

Kuldeep

Jaddu

Pandu

Ashwin/Shami/Thakur.

Our stupid batsmen because they dont bowl, means its highly risky if we dont take 6 bowlers, especially if one gets injured, let alone bashed on a particular day.

I just hate the madness of Indian Cricket, why wasnt Jaddu opening the batting in meaningless bilateral games in the past 12 to 24 months, just to experiment instead of doing it in a WC game?

Im not against your thoughts here. Jaddu for Kishan as opener, does offer more value to the team balance. Jaddu can also offer just as much if not more than Kishan in terms of runs and obviously also as a bowler and importantly fielder too.

Also it includes SKY who is more suited to 6/7 spot.

with so many options thrown out here and not finding any convincing one..hence TM is trying to rush Gill back haha..

SKY-deal duck against left arm inswing..as we saw again Starc previously..so Shaheen will eat him easily at the top..

Jaddu-poor form in middle over..doesnt seem to have goodtechnique for opening..only goo dthing is he is a lefty..

Shradul--passing as a joke

Ashwin--he wud have opened for his school\college..this is Intnl level..even in IPL..his opening experiment..was shelved soon after..

Only reasonable options..we have for now are Kishan,Kohli and Rahul..

Kishan--I will give him benefit of doubt for 1st ball duck against Australia..may be seeing 200 they wante dto come all guns blazing and finish off quickly..against AFG he would have been told to spend time..to prepare for coming matches..if Gill takes time..he is lefty and agressive..thats in his favor..atleast better option than previous 4 discussed..also has soem confidence playing good innning against Pak in Asia cup.

Kohli: Can do opening..atleast did for RCB in IPL..Rohit will have to take more responsibility then to score fast..and its very much possible..we could lose one of them cheaply if not both..KL and Iyer(esp Iyer) will have to very responsible in MO..can Iyer do that..thats the question..and I am not sure about that..

Rahul: he can do opening..but may go to shell being extra cautious against Shaheen.and lose his current form..or conversely due to good form and confidence..may turn out to be good move and scores well..however..if we are chasing then it will be difficult for him to open after keeping 50  overs..

=======================

so we dont seem to have good options...Kohli seems to be a safer option..however..I want little agression on top so wud prefer to go ahead with Kishan...Hasan Ali may bowl well..but atleast on paper Hasan+Shaeen is a lesser threat than Naseem+Shaheen..so Hassan Ali may provide some opportunitie sto release pressure if we are cautious against Shaheen..

KL should not open whatsoever. He's fine at 5.

I'll slightly disagree with the Hasan Ali point.

He is the most underrated threat in that lineup.

Unless he bowls proper bouncers or half volleys , he cannot be hit currently.

The SL batters struggled to his length and back of length deliveries.

His extreme low release and low speeds is not allowing batters to get under his deliveries and they have to generate power on their own.

This is not the case against SSA of Rauf whose back of length deliveries were smashed the other day.

ICF : Why is Pakistan getting special treatment :protest:

Also ICF : Pre-match thread about Pak game (when we didn't have one v Aus too) :giggle:

Because if we lose this in front of 130,000, then I feel it's going to hurt the campaign a lot. It shouldn't matter but whether we like it or not , this team does come under pressure against PAK. Has been the case since CT final 2017

How will a pre-match discussion on ICF  help India win the match?

just dont try to overhit him..and try to time him haha..on paper,..I will lways prefer them facing Hasan Ali+SSA as compared to Naseem+SSA..

Naseem can move the bowl well in Ahemdabad..with pace..

TM tried Sundar in Asia cup..Sundar could have been great addition..had he remained fit and injury free...seems they dont blv in Jaddu's capability as an opener..

How does any discussion on ICF help India win any match? Or affect the outcome at all?

Exactly . To his question of why there is a pre-match discussion only for India-Pak match, your response was that India is under a lot of pressure and a loss here will ruin the campaign. Never mind, I am just ranting.

What I meant is that even the Jay Shah-led BCCI is making this World Cup all about that match with the opening ceremony etc. It is more than just a match whether I want it to be or not.   In other words, BCCI are themselves putting pressure on this team to win this match.

So , there's bound to be more discussions about this match than any other considering the hype.

There was hardly any talk about the Australia match because everybody seemed fairly confident of beating the Aussies at Chennai even though, imo, that should have been considered the tougher match considering Australia play very well at Chennai .

Pakistan has improved. 2017 CT fakar Zaman got lucky with his  no ball dismissal from jusprith bumrah . PSL and the new age Pakistan players are good.

2019 World Cup we thrashed them.2022 oct it was a close game won by Kohli. 2021 t20 worldcup and 2022 Asia cup, the Indian team was not in form.
