They would have been far better team if there wasn't systematic discrimination against Blacks.

Which quota player screwed them up in 1992, 1999, 2003 and 2007 and 2015?

1992 team had all XI white players.

1999 team had XI white players.

All those white quota players are better is all hogwash.

They are as good as what their stats suggest. Just not good enough to win.

Bridesmaids

But we now are also the same

Actually SA aren't even bridesmaids

They are like maids of bridesmaids

They don't even make finals generally.

India have our own quota to worry a out. Superstar quota. So let's focus on fixing our issues first.

In '96 also they were scary good but lost tamely in the quarterfinal to WI.

They were never good enough in ko games. Just like roro and kohli

Surely SA would have won the 99 WC if Klusener and Donald played more sensible Cricket in the last 4 balls. SA after defeating Australia were set to play Pakistan in the finals, I bet Pakistan was going to lose badly in the finals irrespective of the opponent.

They would have lost to India as well in 99 lol

Let us celebrate the moment that lost 2015 semi final. They had one thing to do. Take  the catch of Elliott. They needed 14 runs to win in 7 balls when they dropped him. Next over he smashed a 4 and 6 game over.

SA was not the best side or even second best side in the tournament.  They lost to both India and Pakistan in Group stage.. managed to sneak into QF's somehow.

They played well in Semi but yes their luck finally ran out.

India would have beaten NZ in the semi final in Auckland Imo.

We were unlucky to run into Australia the best team of the tournament.

On that day, they got the worst of the conditions. Probably wrong decision at toss. But actually made a match out of it. On other days, the chasing team would have comfortably. They were also better than Australia in group stages, and by some margin.

Don't think so. NZ's batting was super strong that wc and we were as usual dependent on the top 3. Our middle order was just as weak as the 2019 one with out of form Raina, Dhoni and useless Hahane.

Disagree Raina Dhoni were  NZ specialists.... Those small grounds suited their style of play.

Raina played a great Knock vs a spirited Zim side earlier in Eden Park when top order sh*t their pants & India chased a good total.  Dhoni aided him who actually was also decent in NZ in 2014 tour too.

In between facing red hot Aus in Semi and NZ in Auckland you will take facing Kiwis everytime.

Another chance for India to break the drought and bring home an ICC trophy.

Learn from past mistakes? Or let this one slip as well?

What "learn from past mistakes"? They've picked identical squad which failed the last few WT20s. If you think likes of Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja, Chahal, Siraj, Axar, Arshdeep etc. going to win the cup, I've a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you

The quota system has been bypassed somewhat .  What quota selections are there in the current SA team ?

They have only selected 1 black player in Rabada and he's there on merit.  Baartman was the best SA20 bowler and for Windies conditions he looks far better than Coetzee and Nortje .

Reeza is batting way better than Rickleton or Markram or even the out of form Miller and QDK.

Quota may have been an issue two years ago but these players have been selected on merit.

we have been "unlucky" against Aus so many times. WTC, ODI WC final, etc

Drop kohli rohit and all chokers and then luck will change.

They are not that good simply.

They have good strokemakers and bowlers who can bowl at good pace. But they don't have many players who look fully motivated to make a difference in batting, bowling and fielding by either grinding out for hours on a difficult wicket or producing a game changing spell.

SA is a team who except for 1999 were never destined to win the World Cup and hence they didn't won.

I think they have the best team this WC

I placed "luck" in quotes for a reason.

So, South Africa vs Afghanistan in the semi - final.

The chokers tag must be weighing heavily on South Africa. As spirited as Afghanistan, losing to the likes of Australia/NZ/India in the semi - final is one thing and losing to Afghanistan.

Given how they get absolutely rogered every tournament I’d say they’re always the bride.

In fact, come to think of it, so are we, India, given how often we go to the even last stage, only to fizzle out   :(( :phehe:
