Indian spinners in last 2 games - 218/1 in 40 overs

Spinners always get figured out. It took a while but it happened.

Semi final was understandable.

 

But final, both Spinners had no support from captain. Shocking no slips provided, and there were two edges, one off Kuldeep and one off Jadeja that would have gone to slips early on.

 

Something was off in Rohit's captaincy today, just not sure why he went with defensive captaincy when so few runs to play with.

They were bowling very full today, especially Kuldeep. Didn not use the pitch to his advantage at all

Happens when there is no slips, easy singles given. Field set was shocking to say the least.

No slips, still....Kuldeep's aura is shattered.

Even Zampa struggled today..  Only managed to get Bumrah of all people.  Pitch had help for him during the day but it was slow turn. 

 

I think there was no bounce or zip in this surface overall.   Pathetic pitch.

IMO we should not go with specialist spinners at all. We've seen over the last decade that specialist spinners haven't won us anything at the crunch and are mostly useless against the good teams. In fact Yuvraj and Raina have performed better for us than so called specialist spinners in the knockouts. I say go with likes of Jaiswal, Riyan Parag or any other batsman who can bowl similar to Maxwell, Markram, Chapman and Head. They can't do any worse and gives us depth.

 

Enough of KulCha earlier, and Kuldeep now bossing the league stages and get shown up in knockouts.

Yep big let down....  I don't think team believed at all that they could defend it.

Ball was not spinning and it was clear they were used to contain than take wickets. I do not blame either spinners for both the games.

 

This pitch change Idea to make them slow or non swinging is horrible. Did not help our fast bowlers or slow bowlers. took away from our bowling strength. If you had to doctor, why not prepare a proper turner. 

 

Not like Zampa had any real impact. He contained and only got a wicket of his final over. This with first innings pitch being more friendly and no dew.
