putrevus Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 Siraj should not be a sure fire starter in Australia. He has no consistency and his pace is down .I also was favoring his selection, him playing world cup finals over Ashwin was a mistake

It means India needs two more seamers. Both Siraj and Akashdeep are not the answers. Shami's status is unknown.Personally I don't think Akashdeep is that good, I would be happy to be proven wrong. When were you so sure about someone coming good or not in future, last time? Noone can predict, players make their own progress ,some keep improving, gain confidence and they cement their place We won't a ditto copy of Shami, someone will have to fill his shoes, maybe Akashdeep does it or someone else will have to do it Akashdeep is limited by not optimally using his front arm/non bowling arm,I know he's 27 If he had used it properly he could have had consistent pace at high clicks,it's not bad currently either Edited March 3, 2024 by Suhaan express bowling and Mosher 2

Crawley was super comfortable even against Bumrah using his height. But that uncomfortable length that Deep hit posed him a lot of problem. WIll be handy on surfaces that require hit the deck approach. I don't think he has that ability to crank it up over 140 consistently, he is now operating mostly at 130-135. Troubling Crawley is not that hard .

I hope he improves a lot and becomes very good option as Siraj has taken massive step backwards.

He was the only one who was comfortable against both Bumrah and Siraj in the previous encounters. Mukesh was banished in 2 overs. Akash could bowl 6 or 7 overs on the trot looking how they struggled. So definitely he is an upgrade. I was not happy either with his selection until i saw him. I have seen him in IPL. Wasn't that impressive. Now he has done well here. So he needs a fair run. After seeing the horror show that Prasidh put up in helpful conditions in SA this guy is a massive upgrade.

I would not discard Prasidh just yet, bowlers like Prasidh need some mental coaching too.Is he still injured? They have invested a lot on that guy, he needs to play matches where is asked to bowl 20 plus overs every day. AKane Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 Thakur scores a blazing hundred .... but just 2 wickets. What Thakur needed to understand is that the reason Bumrah, Shami, Siraj are effective bowlers is that they concentrate on bowling. Thakur has been concentrating on batting - that too correct batting a la Dravid. Go figure! At least in this innings in Ranji semifinal he scored with "hit and care a damn". Shardul Thakur c †Jagadeesan b Sen 109 105 13 4 103.80 But it is irrelevant as his bowling has declined from its not so good level in the first place. Suhaan 1

I wouldn’t drop him yet. the problem has been the has been asked to do more than 4th seamer role. You know that 4th seamer role is a rarity unless we're playing in SENA. Thakur was also dropped because his batting was on decline. He was failing more often than not with bat. Ball wise he was ok.

If you are primarily a bowler - you have to bowl. Period. He focused on batting - batting correctly a la Dravid - and his bowling suffered seriously. Another player who did this was Irfan Pathan - he focused on batting, the bowling speed dropped and he was done. Edited March 3, 2024 by AKane nevada, Suhaan, express bowling and 1 other 4
AKane Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 Since the great Kapil Dev (an exception) - no Indian pace bowler has succeeded in batting plus bowling. Srinath, Zaheer, Ishant, Shami, Umesh, Bumrah have correctly focused on being bowlers first and to heck with batting. Correctly so. express bowling and Suhaan 2
AKane Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 In addition to all its other limitations, Ranjis have become the tourney of choice to revive the careers (IPL career if not international career) of the seriously out of form washed out old players. For example the captain of Maharashtra this time was 38 year old Kedar Jadhav, Mumbai captain is 35 (going on 36 in 3 months) Rahane. express bowling 1

Thakur should play only in SENA, his batting will never delight people looking for consistency but he has a spark like he showed in Gaaba, or ICC finals. They expected him to pick the slack of Siraj, Shami and Bumrah. He was not the problem, others did not raise their level.

rollingstoned Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 (edited) Good expose on Sai Sudharsan's technique as he survived a dropped chance earlier and now gets out again to Thakur. He isn't ready for SENA tours yet clearly. Head position not right means he falls over and plays across front pad which will make him a walking wicket. Lord exposes a lot of technical faults with that length he bowls and swing he gets, see Jagadeesan dismissal too. Edited March 4, 2024 by rollingstoned Kron, express bowling, Suhaan and 1 other 4

rollingstoned Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 Chetan Sharma mentioned that he has also played league cricket in TN and that despite having talented players he feels the players there lack fighting spirit and killer Instinct when the chips are down. Going at 4-5 RPO in bowler friendly conditions kills the game. His batting has regressed too.. Needs to toil for a full domestic season and improve his fitness. express bowling and Kron 2

Aussies are mostly public school products while Pommy cricketers mostly come from Posh private schooling structure and lack that killer instinct. Stokes is a rare English Captain to be a Public school product as he is a Kiwi.

For the longest time their cricketing establishment only accepted captains who were posh and presentable and went to the right schools/played for the 'right' counties, people like Ted Dexter and at worst someoe like Cook. express bowling, Lone Wolf and Vijy 3
