Shubman Gill : Just too many weaknesses ?

Has he played a full length series at home? He plays 2 matches, gets injured and gets called to play a random match at Lords.

England series at home will be a good time for him to make corrections. After that, he will become a proper test batsman, whatever position he plays at.

Domestic openers haven't set Ranji on fire as well. Going to Eswaran, Gaekwad, or Panchal will be a step in backward direction. He seems to be the best man.

He has not had a good time but technical weakness is not the reason. Gone are the days of technically perfect batsmen, Root has 10000 runs and he is sitting duck against the same incoming ball.

based on? This is his first innings at 6. Nothing at 5.

Don't mix formats.

His game is best suited to see off new ball threat and then capitalise. Flashy openers like Jaiswal/Gill are more suited to Asia

Not every issue is a format related issue.

Rahul looks much more mentally relaxed when he comes in to bat at No.4 to No 6. And his best qualities come out.

He played 2021 home series vs England. Played all 4 tests and his highest score was 50. Worrying thing was he was getting out to pacers on lifeless pitches.

I know a lot of time has passed since then and he is more experienced now but he will have to return on the investments now. As an Indian cricket fan, I really want him to succeed.

That's only in LOIs. He has done fairly well opening and his skills are wasted down the order in Tests.

He is massively overrated and has too many weaknesses against spin and seam. BCCI tried to make him a star too quickly and he believed in the hype and didn't work on his weak points. Best thing for him is to take a break from international cricket, improve his batting in domestic cricket and try to

get back in to the team.

Gill will be just fine. What did Jaiswal do in this test .Yes he has technical weaknesses but like all other Indian batsmen in their history he will have his moments away from home.

Was looking so good. Negotiated Rabada the best.

Then his habit of getting out in cute 20s, 30s kicked in.

He missed a straight half volley. Its all in the head with this guy. Worrying signs.

At #3, a young batter like him needs to target playing as many deliveries as possible, get the basics right to show he belongs at this level. Just seems too flamboyant for the role
