Which promising player whose career got cut short was the biggest loss?

Recommended Posts

Amay Khurasiya.

He was a powerhitter and one of the best in 90's. Had a fantastic start vs SL when he smashed 57(45) with 2 big sixes, had real power in his shots.

Vijay Bharadwaj

Likeable guy in late 90's, used to contribute with both ball and bat and was seen as a long term allrounder prospect. For no reason, he was replaced by Nikhil Chopra.

his LOI exploits came against weaker teams mostly.

Not an Indian.  Mfuneko Ngam.  One of South Africa's most promising ever young bowlers whose career ended when he kept getting stress fractures due to childhood malnutrition.

Brett Schulz was better. also had a short career for similar reasons

Quintessential name in this list should be Karun Nair. Imagine scoring a triple century in a test match and getting dropped and then never playing for India again.

He did play a few more games, though not right away. He struggled against express pace and that was held against him. TM lost confidence in him and dumped him forever.

You missed Laxmi Ratan Shukla.

Sairaj bahutule (leg spinning all-rounder) and definitely Robin Singh who came very late to the team.

These two came in a different era where there was not much money in cricket.

If they both come during IPL era, they would have been ATG as they were real hard workers.

Another one if we really want to go worldwide was Lance Klusenar, he was gutted after the world cup defeat to Australia and was never the same again.

I wouldn't put Kambli who was lazy and distracted into this list.

Karun Nair also didn't do anything special in domestics.

Im fairly certain Australia would have a huge list here because of the players that toured SA during the apartheid years when playing cricket over there was banned.

The players that toured were banned.

@Vijy Im sure you would know?

EDIT

I found this story on cricinfo.

yes, I know some of them. not many were all that special though. Perhaps Aus's biggest ever loss was Archie Jackson, who was potentially better than Sir Donnie B (bradman) on bad wickets
