India had best team by far in the tournament. They did not need to resort to this nonsense.

it serves BCCI right for losing this WC. this is what happens when a timid low-IQ git is given absolute control over decision making.

Was devastated for a day or 2 but got over it. I value away test series wins more and we got that on them twice.

Hopefully we can do it again

We have won 4 straight series vs Aussies in a row.

They only beat us in one off crap final where we were under prepared for the most part. Wtc final in England. Where we dint even have prep games.

I would really like to be fly on the wall in the dressing room.  All indicate Rahul Dravid has taken some bad decision making as a coach. No wonder India had the worst world campaign ever under his captaincy where Sachin was batting at no.4

Could have had the final at Chennai's traditional pitch or even Eden Gardens. The whole humiliation had to happen in Narendra Modi stadium infront of Narendra Modi.

Modi makes a stadium name when he is alive so cringe it's suitable that the humiliation happened there, why should madras or calcutta be humiliated? It's apt for gujrat ahemdabad

We absolutely steamrolled inform Saffers in Eden Gardens...  Fantastic atmosphere & on a sporting pitch which had life for both spin and Pace.

Aussies too nearly botched the Semi there...

Signs were visible even in Pak game that Amdavad looked like a dead pitch.

Moronic decision to play a final in a non traditional or a venue which has zero history of being iconic.

Instead got Humiliated in front of PM who had a stadium named after him.

2003 was lot less Humiliating when you think about it.

The other question is how stupid Rohit and Dravid are to leave out Ashwin from the XI if they asked for a doctored pitch

Batting 2nd has always been easy in ahmedabad.  We saw that in Nz vs Eng game too.  Dew makes the pitch a batting paradise.   Kuldeep and Jaddu looked toothless.   Ashwin would not hv done much.  Even on a spin friendly pitch like chennai, ashwin never looked threatening against Aus.  He looked like a containing bowler at best.

Whether he would have been able to make an impact or not is besides the point.

I am only pointing out to the inconsistent strategy. If Rohit and co wanted to tamper with the wicket by slowing it down, they should have gone in with the additional spinner

You alwyas back an offie against Australia. They struggled against Glen philips on an absolute road even after scoring 150 runs in 15 overs.  These are simple match ups. That is where useless Pandya's absence showed up. If he had played SKY could have sat down. Pandya would have been 3rd bowler. Ashwin would have replaced Siraj. Batting depth and bowling depth both will be significantly better.

Everyone including the stupid TM believed that Cummins wouldn't want to chase in a WC final. Doctored the pitch and made it obvious. They wanted to take out the toss factor. When Cummins decided to chase, it shocked everyone. Lol. Warner fielded like that possesed Kantara hero in the climax... Saved atleast 25-30 runs alone. That Head's catch and his in innings defined the match. Aus was destined to win that day

This and Ashwin drop in WTC 2023.

I don't think Ashwin would have mattered..... Ashwin is always supposed to work miracles outside India but does not.

Ashwin averages around 21.15 in India in tests

He averages 32.92 in England, 33 in NZ, 42  in Aus and 49 in SA.

The match was versus Aus in Eng.

Last time when India won an ICC event when we had a foreign coach. Duncan Fletcher in 2013. Since then it is all Indian coach. Even in 2011 we had Gary Kirsten. India probably should go for genuinely trained Indian coach or foreign coach with training. Not these "former" players.

His record against Australia is always a massive advantage. Also pitch was oval not Leeds. Probably the friendliest surface for a spinner. You cannot use blanket statistics for everything. They needed 4th seamer in 2021 but they went with 2 spinners. They needed a spinner in 2022 they went with 4 seamers. Both times they got it wrong. To correct the first wrong they committed another wrong. Indian coach are not that nuanced to pick a side for conditions. They are dumb f**ks.

Er ..... in India on doctored wickets, yes, he has 76 wickets at 21.20 average.  He averages a lousy 42.15 for 39 wickets in Australia. Some advantage.

Er Ashwin has played only 1 test at the Oval in 2014. He took 3 wickets for 72 runs... two wickets of Moeen and Jimmy Anderson.

England won the test by Innings and 244 runs. All 20 Indian wickets fell to English pace bowlers.

You may say that India won in 1971 at the Oval off of Chandra's 6 wickets in the days of semi-sticky pitches - but there have been far more wins with pace at the Oval. My first memory of the Oval was the birth there of Michael Holding as premier fast bowler with 14/149 in the test in 1976.

Believe me the Oval is nothing like the Indian pitches that Ashwin likes.

Hey you all are the ones using blanket Indian pitch performances to predict his SENA performances.

Against AUstarlia he did well in Australia. Did well in all 3 world cup matches. Did well in INdia. Thakur, Umesh who sucked balls most of his career overseas got picked. A declining Thakur was picked above him. IN 2021 WTC final Ashwin was the only one who did well that too in seaming conditions. I didn't like his selection there. But against AUstralia between Ashwin and Umesh/Thakur it is no brainer Ashwin has wood over Aussies. SO it was brainless to leave him out.

Not outside India he has not - he has a lousy 42 average vs Aus outside India. Live with it - it stinks.

Umesh is horrible overseas and Ashwin is just as bad.

                                     Aus           Eng        NZ        SA

Yadav average             44              23         45         50

Ashwin average           42              33         33         49

YOu have to look at recent outings. He bowled very well in 2021 series. Dismissed SMith three times for cheap scores who was the main scorer. Also against left hander like Head he has better chance than Thakur or Umesh. HE was definitely more likely to create more opportunities with Duke on a drier surface compared to what we got from 2 seamers.
