When i used to play sports competitively in my youth, i'd see players who'd stiffen up and injure themselves simply because they are too mentally tight/stressed out. In an activity like bowling, where the whole body is involved in a lot of complex muscular movements, being mentally tense can easily translate into injuring yourself while bowing. I think people overlook THIS side of the whole injury train, especially when the injuries are series of muscle strains and such. the mental pressure may also lead to overthinking sometimes..where you lose focus on whats going on currently..I have seen some people getting injured in local matches..a friend hurt his hand while catching..he himself admit he was overthinking..and couldnt be in correct position..It basically leads to error in judgement and risky specially during fielding..people may be suddenly caught off guard and may fall or twist ankle hwo knows what else.. vishalvirsingh 1
Need4Speed Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I feel during matches whatever one tries it somehow gets more physically demanding or rather I say more impacting.as emotions are also involved..and you mat try to push yourself even more..as compared to relatively laidback practice sessions.. However, all you can do is practice and practice..and thts what Mayank has done to best prepare himself.. if he is bowling 20 overs a days..and with full throttle recently..its supposed to improve hsi endurance..muscles etc..may be they were also keeping a close watch on his muscles responses and statuses too..with regular checks\monitoring..
vishalvirsingh Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Predicted NEWS- Mayank gets 3 wickets against Bangladesh in his 4 overs on 6th October ( T20 Match). his Fastest ball was 151K.

If he is able to manage the rigors of T20 games, let's keep him in NZ series and try him out to check if he is able to bowl 12-18 overs in a day in short spells of 3/4 overs each. It will add an extra dimension in our pace bowling. Yes . I want him to play as much as possible but we should think long term with him. Harshit can be good 4seamer option singhvivek141 1

putrevus Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 How long will he stay injury free, is he going to be limited to 4 over cricket? Can he play test cricket .

He needs to play at least one season of FC cricket before any test considerations.

A man not selected by his FC team and with 0 FC matches has zero justifications to be in the test team. Test team isnt laboratory to see if you can handle tests and wont break down. That laboratory is FC cricket. If you cant make it to your FC team, it means you cant make it to your test team. Simple.
Need4Speed Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Troy Cooley suggested Mayank that he need sto increase protein intake in his diet to increase muscle stamina..he is a vegetarian I think.. any experts here..what are your thoughts on this..ofc more proteins should assist his muscles..but do you think as he increases protein..his muscles improves further..will his pace increase further by 5k or so..and he will break 100 MPH barrier..soon.. :D Probably..their is a certain threshold for everyone..beyond which one cant increase pace even after increasing protien in diet..but seems he is protein deficient??..doesnt he has some scope to add more Ks in his speed :D

I think if he goes thru the t20 series unscathed, I would not be against him making his test debut in one of the tests against NZ. The seamers who are healthy, other than Bumrah is there anyone who screams they will cause some trouble to Aussies. If he is just limited to t20s then he is of very little importance for Indian team.

Protien helps in muscle repair as much as muscle building, so higher protien intake will help him recover faster. it wont make him actually faster because speed comes from technique more than muscles.
