Who is going to be our captain across formats?

This Rohit is past by sell date. No achievement besides the Asia cup and the England series. Especially in LOI set up India needs a strong captain.

Our choices are

ODIs

1) Rishabh Pant

2) Shreyas Iyer

3) Sanju Samson

4) Shubman Gill

T20s

1) SKY

2) Rishabh Pant

But i know they have Hardik in their mind.

Ideally both the Kohli Rohit should leave Lois atleast

They need time to make guys gel together

4 years is good enough time

There is no purpose in playing for both of them

Even Bumrah would be quite old by then, need to look after and beyond him, total revamp is needed

Thinking needs to change

I expect kohli to become next captain in tests, and Pandu in LOIs

Or they could make Kohli the vice captain for a few years, and then make him captain. That way the transition to captaincy would be more comfortable for him.

We should have split captaincy across Tests, and white-ball formats. For Tests, go with Gill or Pant. For ODIs & T20s, go with a left field pick such as Jaiswal or Rinku. Revamp the shorter format team, and do what SA did with Graeme Smith after SA crashed out of 2003 WC.

I think hardik has burnt so many bridges that it's unlikely

Split captaincy won't be tried in Indian set up. Our BCCI bosses always like a Numero Uno. It will be either Rishab or Gill.

Ideally split captaincy works because there is lesser load on one person and there is less concentration of power.

problem with Pant becoming all format captain is that he isn't an all format player. Him playing in T20 just because he is the captain will be disaster for India.

Yes, but our TM doesn't see it.. Even this WC, he will start as the first choice keeper

yeah, they will play him in all formats despite his irresponsibility.

If Pant does well he is likely to be the captain as he is going to be in the starting XI for sure atleast in two formats. He has reasonable control over players. But tactically he still has to evolve.

BCCI happily creates mess and loves the buzz around it

Pure bowlers as captain have issues where they either overbowl themselves or underbowl themselves. I thought Bedi as captain was terrible overall.

Similarly with wicket keepers as captain....Wicket keeping is a taxing job, especially in tests. Add captaincy to that and it does not work out. Maybe it worked out for Dhoni but most teams do not make wicket keepers captain.
