One good thing about bengali culture is they always encourage their kids to go into extra curricular activities like singing, music, dancing and also sports like table tennis, badminton etc. and people who do have a natural talent for it

Singing and music is their forte. Most Bengali kids learn singing. But I don't think others can be as good as the Bengalis even if we learn. Also, their legacy is unparalleled.

But sports, for now atleast, less we talk the better.:cantstop:

This is why we never progress as a country. He is doing well representing entire India but people are worried about which state and region he is from. Why does that matter?

Nobody is spreading hate towards another state or region. So won't halt the progress, don't worry, 10 million other important things.

It is good if sporting culture extends to other ethnicities, can't just be dependent on couple of them. Bengalis aren't renowned for sporting prowess, at least last half a century, so good if Lakshya can inspire a few of them. Frequently mocked in SM for lack of physical/athletic abilities, Bengali men portrayed as effeminate in popular culture etc....this is a positive change if Bengalis see Lakshya as one of them and let their kids pursue a sport like badminton.

I guess both his father's and his upbringing is from uttarakhand. His mother is also from there...food, water , air, terrain etc. more influence from hills...so I would say 80-90% uttarakhandi...

Not to say Bengalis are less.. there was a good looking and strong (beat everyone in arm wrestling) Bengali guy brought up in Delhi who was in my batch in college who got 100%ile in CAT...so basically an all-rounder. Bengali are fantastic in music, singing....but most Bengalis would agree that they currently lack in fitness and sports.

There are good looking, strong folks in every state. Most sportspeople will have good personality, looks, confidence etc.

Colonialism, castesim, and ensuing obsession with colorism has clouded our judgement of what constitutes as good looking. Most goras will rate a Freida Pinto or Sendhil Ramamurthy as best looking folks....Indians and Pakistanis go crazy over melanin content forgetting facial features, symmetry etc. They see a fair person with potato nose, they'll rate that as more desirable than the most perfect face but dark in complexion.
