Serious question: we win a lot of medals in Asian games right? China and Korea are in Asia last time I checked. We win a lot of gold medals there. How come they seem to translate in Olympics but we crap it even in events where we are favorites?

because other teams come and push us outside podium place.

 

eg in cricket asia cup, india is the gold winner. pak/bang/sl/afg are silver-bronze winners. but in cricket world cup they dont even make semis while india still medals.

 

we have never been favourites in archery. archery hype is all fake.

No clear answers.

 

We are good in athletics at Asian games but not good enough for Olympic.

 

We are No.1 in compound archery but its not at olympic.

 

Shooters are at par with Olympic level.

 

Kabaddi, cricket, chess not there at olympic level but we swept 6 Gold in Asian games.

 

Badminton - par with Olympic.

 

Swimming, Diving- zilch at even Asian level.

 

Wrestling - par with Asian level but not Olympic level.

 

So, short answer we are not good enough in most sport. Only two sports where we are genuinely good are shooting and badminton and Neeraj Chopra in his individual capability. Thats it.

We are very good in Athletics at Asian level.

There was a time one individual bronze  medal was enough for us to celebrate. Now not happy with 3  . India ne 1000x tarakki kar li for sure

Yes needed 3 or more to assure a medal but shot 2/5 and then in shootout her 3/5 was not enough as her competitor shot 4/5.

Like Tajinder Singh Toor won gold in 2023 and 2018 Asian games. Comes 15th in Olympics.  We are Asia’s best in some sports but worst at Olympics level.

Half the medals were in shooting and athletics.

 

Archery, wrestling, squash, rowing, sailing, boxing, badminton got 3-9 medals each.

Tokyo last our best with 7 (one gold too) . We lost one from Manu now , was hoping we would be at 4 today.
