Even if Alcaraz wins 30 slams in the future, losing to 37 yo Nole is a black mark that can never be erased. 

If Alcaraz beats him a month later in the USO final, I'm sure that would end the debate that Olympics are valued as high as slams. Djokovic just wanted it more than Alcaraz. If he loses to him again, then we can revisit this topic. If Alcaraz beats him, a month from now, I'd bet the tables would turn. 

 

Losing to an older ATG bears no argument, Djokovic lost to 38 year old Federer when he was 31 in WTF. 

 

Alcaraz beat him in the finals that mattered the most W 23 and 24. He was just too cocky and overconfident in the lead-up to this match. He told the media that the gold medal is coming for Spain, he's bringing it etc. Djokovic underplayed his chances, the tactical possum, and fake humility, probably because of the knee injury(which I'm not sure if it's there or not, I'm not sure a person with a torn meniscus can play like he did today).

pawwar stars from parkie land, how come they couldnt dominate the power stats here? in an actual power game. cricket fast bowling requires power but its much more nuanced and technical than raw power of a drag flick.

100 m sprinter is the best and then

Olympics not valued as high as slams but it was the only missing piece in Nole's resume.

Alcaraz took this seriously enough, anyway no way to quantify who wanted what how much more than another person. Sports doesn't work that way, results only matter.

Yeah but here it was 37 vs 21 (at peak/prime).

 

Besides Federer didn't beat him in a final. Just a round robin.

Moment of the match for me was the stick save by Jarmanpreet off the penalty corner in the 4th minute and Srejesh hitting out. Only thing between a goal there was Jarmanpreet's stick.  A goal there and India would've found it hard to make a comeback with trailing 0-1.  Was a tough match  with GB having mosot possession and India held their nerve in the penalty shootout.  The wider you go on the penalty shots, makes the angle tougher for the shooters. Abhishek reminds me of Hardik, lots of fancy stickwork but take those damn shots. Very nervous game for the fans lol

 

 

To my shock and surprise India played rather well against Australia. Usually, Australia is their kryptonite with their speed and power play but this time and hand out defeats for fun.
