Kohli is staying now in London. He chooses which series he will play or he will not.He just drop by 2,3 days before the test.

Selectors should have made him to play in Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy. Now he has looked completely out of sorts against New Zealand.

Many people on this forum had predicted the mode of dismissal and actual runs he will score.

What message BCCI is trying to give.Is Kohli above all of them for his PR,ad revenue etc..

I also get the feeling when seniors choose to skip a test or series, the replacement are selected such that They are easily replaceable.

If they perform better, than also they are thrown out.

In England series, Kohli skipped 5 test and the selectors insured that he will directly play at his place.

A pathetic out of form Kohli won't bring any value to BCCI's brand anyway

Nah, nobody predicted he would miss a full toss of a spinner

Possible Test pool for India aged under 35:

Jaiswal

Easwaran

Gill

Sarfaraz

KL

Rinku Singh

Pant (WK)

Jurel (WK)

Kishan (WK)

Samson (WK)

Axar

Sundar

Kuldeep Yadav

Sai Kishore

Bawa

NKR

Rana

Bumrah

Akashdeep

Siraj

1st class average needs to be close to 50 when picking batsmen for India. If they are averaging low 40’s in Ranji it is highly likely they will not succeed at Test level.

KL will be persisted with I believe post Rohit & Kohli.

Gill was touted as the next Kohli but I don’t see a ground breaking talent in him.

Gilli Danda needs to extract himself from quicksand before he can break ground.

Exactly, with ad revenue contracts based on match appearances/visibilty. Brat and BCCI are just cashing in what they can, when they can.

I have not followed cricket much off late but below can be a good starting point for tests in 2025:

Gill

Jaiswal

Sudarshan

Parag (or equivalent)

Pant

Jurel

Axar

Sundar (or a pace bowling AR if needed)

Pacer 1

Pacer 2

Bumrah

For pacers 1 & 2, I could list names like Mayank, Rana, etc., but I am not aware of their fitness to last 4-5 days of test cricket.

I get why people want fighters and pressure player but believe me these are all monikers that help you only if you are actually very talented.

First and foremost criteria should be talent, yes there are people who can fight but don’t have that much talent, those kind of cricketers might help you in a pressure situation once or twice but to get consistent results we need players with a lot of talent.

As of now Pant, Jaiswal fit the criteria, Gill was touted as the next Kohli but I don’t see a ground breaking talent in him.

That makes him the next Kohli

After the 3-0 results there is no there seems to be no process for team rebuilding. Same set of failed players are again selected for Australia series.

Can we expect a different results from this team.

They knew it before the start of the 2nd test, this is not going to end well and thus they announced it just a day before the loss in Pune

Rohit,Kohli,Jadeja,Ashwin are the real damaads of Indian cricket

They even tried to and did well in solely crediting the win of this t20WC to kohlis tortoiseque knock and Rohit's choking captaincy in the final

Harshit Rana has played 3 FC matches in the last few days and picked up 15 wickets. Scored runs too including a 50+.

Mayank does not have the fitness to play for 5 days yet.

After the 3-0 loss the team rebuilding should start from.Australia series.

As Rohit is missing the first test and conditions are entirely different in Australia, they can take risk and groom new players in the squad.

Eashwaran,Nitish,Harshit should make debut and they would certainly not do worse than the seniors players in the three test against Newzealand.

Rahul,Siraj,Ashwin ,Jadeja should not be automatic choice.

The team should be rebuild around Jaiswal, Gill,Pant,Bumrah.

Sundar,Sarfaraz,Akashdeep should get the full series to prove  them selves.

It would be very easy to drop Akashdeep, Sundar,Sarfaraz instead of Rahul, Siraj,Ashwin but it would not serve the purpose of rebuilding the team.

Jurel.should br tried as batsman.

The playing 11

Jaiswal

Eashwaran

Gill

Virat

Pant

Sarfaraz

Sundar

Nitish

Harshit

Akashdeep

Bumrah

Missing ingredients

1) Openers  - Jaiswal is one. Another one has to be extremely good with technique. Cannot have anyone remotely like Rohit who get sstuck on the crease when the ball is doing a bit

2) No.3 batsman. - Has to be another one who should be able to arrest the slide and see off new ball threat if any. Should be good enough against spin. For now Gill is fine. When we find someone else Gill can be made to open

3) No.4 batsman typically Team's best batsman bats here. At this point Jaiswal is the best batsman. I won't mind pushing Gill further down. But that guy sucks agianst spin. Cannot have anyone that is weak against spin. will be a walking wicket.

4)Swing bowler - None of the guys we have are swing bowlers like Ishant, Bhuvi, RP singh from the past. We fail to exploit overcast conditions. We exploit other type of conditions. But we have zero bowlers to do that.

5) Wrist spinner - I know we have Kuldeep. But we need a conventional leggie as well in the side

for 1),2) and 3) we may look into Sai Sudharshan,Jurel and Rinku..

for 4) and 5) we may have to look into some raw bowlers..from u23 circuit..and try to groom them with Boom, Kulpdeep,Sundar etc..I hope Akashdeep and Harshit do well for a long period of time..

From the available squad and as the team will not be keen to make changes the predicted 11 can be

Jaiswal

Eashwaran

Gill

Virat

Pant

Rahul

Sarfaraz

Jadeja

Akashdeep

Siraj

Bumrah

The team management will.prefer the senior players for the first 2 test.

By selecting Rahul and Sarfaraz they will make the middle order strong.

As Rohit will.be back.Easwaran would be dropped irrespective of perfomance.
