Possible 1st Test Line Up Vs Australia at Perth

Had this series been a few years earlier I would have played Reddy and Ashwin at 7 & 8. But Ashwin looks over the hill now both with bowl & bat.

 

The debate should be between Jadeja and Sundar for the lone spinner spot. I personally would go with Jadeja coz he's the better test spinner and has a good record vs Aus(even in Aus) both with bat n bowl. Moreover a tight defensive spinner is better suited for Aus imo.

Conflicting reports coming from media. SportsTak saying both Sundar and Prasidh will most likely play. Cricinfo had said Ashwin and Harshit are lock. Looks like mind games for TM... Difficult to predict exact XI.

Cricinfo is more reliable 

 

They can play both Harshit and Nitish to really extend the tail.. Ashwin will come at 9 in that case which is suitable for him in current form

Harshit Rana must play imo. He has all the ingredients to succeed in Aus and being an unknown entity he might surprise the Aussies (like Gabba2021) on a spicy Perth pitch.

All 3 Aus pacers are getting old too. Starc had very poor test record vs India even in his prime. Lyon, Smith, Khwaja are over the hill too. 

 

If our batting wasn't in such an awful condition I would be expecting a 3rd series victory in Aus.

Sundar has as much a chance as Harshit imo.

Several journos also saying Sundar had a lengthy batting and bowling stint yesterday 

 

It's a close call between Sundar v Ashwin and Prasidh v Harshit.

 

Jadeja is not in contention coz in Perth you need overspin not side spin.  He may get thrashed brutally.

His batting has really really & I mean really regressed.

Ashwin looks a better batsman & that says something.

They have a weaker batting line up.

Any line up that gets owned by Khurram Shehzad and Amir Jamal has to be ridiculously bad.

If not from Shafique dropping dollies... Pak would have won at MCG.

 

Our guys just need to bowl tight and bowl around 140ks...  We will make them dance

Our batsmen will make sure they get enough rest.   In the recent series

 

India batted  31 overs, 100 overs, 45 overs, 60 overs, 60 overs, 30 overs.  That is how long they last nowadays. Grand total of 325 overs approximately. In 2018 Pujara alone batted 200 plus overs in Australia. Can this team bat that long?

saw them against pak in test they were not what they used to be in the past, may be less switched-on or something.

 

but pak batters were playing them okay and pak would have won a test or two if they were a little bit better
