maniac Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 He is being played at a thankless position for now but his attitude and temperament has won me over, his fielding ability is world class and shows not only his athletic ability but his commitment. Love such players. now read this carefully: he might have a lot of failures due to the spot given to him which is hardly 10-15 balls in T20 or in an extreme collapse situation. So he will get some stick eventually too but all the way till the end with this guy. If you think with cricket acumen- this is the guy. BacktoCricaddict 1
Lord Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 just when I thought there is a player OP missed Ultimate_Game, BacktoCricaddict, JaFanatic and 3 others 6
Lord Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 on topic, agree with him. He's perfect T20 package.
deepdynamo Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Ramandeep is good but we already have Pandya and Reddy ahead of him. Don't think he will get consistent opportunities.
Need4Speed Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 dont forget..Riyan Parag will be back..and then Jaisawal.. I dont like Gill in T20s anymore..but TM may try to fit him in.. only way these guys like Raman can play if we have such parallel series going on.. devisreeprasadmahesh 1
maniac Posted November 15, 2024 Author Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Also just a disclaimer: I don’t consider him an allrounder. I am talking about his batting ability, attitude, fitness and fielding/athletic ability: I don’t think his bowling is any better than Venky Iyer or Dube. I would put both Vijay Shankar,Binny and Nitish Reddy ahead of him in bowling. This would is based on what I have seen. Now if he turns out to be as good as even Pandya, that will be great and good for him but don’t think so. Edited November 15, 2024 by maniac BacktoCricaddict 1

He can be one of the all-rounders batting at 7 or 8. Formula has to be 3 specialist bowlers and the rest all-rounders. Bumrah, Akash Deep (or any form pacer), Varun C (or Kuldeep) as 3 specialist bowlers and then have Axar, Ramandeep, Pandya, Parag, Rinku etc. Plus we need a backup for a pace all-rounder as backup for Pandya. We don't want to be in the same position as 2023 WC where Pandya's injury doomed our team balance. So far Ramandeep and Venky Iyer are the two best pace all-rounders. Don't consider Dube an all-rounder at all.

Having said that Nitish isn’t as good as Pandya either but Ramandeep is not a like for like for Pandya. He can replace someone like Rahul or Iyer.

Don't think he will get consistent opportunities. Can't have too many pace backup options. And Ramandeep is ideally suited to for the enforcer role coming in lower down the order and going after the bowling from ball one. Nitish is more suited to longer formats and is a more traditional batsman.
maniac Posted November 15, 2024 Author Posted November 15, 2024 Ramandeep, Rinku Singh,Riyan Parag- 2 of these 3 will the crux of the middle order in odis and all 3 in t20s. Not sure anyone will make it to tests but if Patidar got an opportunity than I don’t see why these guys won’t.
Lone Wolf Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Ramandeep should be strictly for T20s .. he is the guy you need at the back end. His bowling is bonus part time level at best
rkt.india Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 He is just a bits and pieces player neither good enough with bat or ball.
