Bublu Bhuyan
Congrats, 'King' Kohli! You have successfully done it. The only time it has happened to me were with Azhar and Jadeja. But that was because of them fixing matches, not their performance. At his peak, I was wondering whether he was better than even Viv or Sachin, whether he was a machine or mere mortal. Now I'm questioning myself whether he has been as good as another legend by the name of Matthew Hayden. Absolute insult for Hayden to be compared to the 'King'. P.S. I'm speaking of Test cricket. He certainly doesn't enjoy the luxury of never getting dropped. Nor he has been garbage since 2019. Ganguly flopped for basically 3 years (2003, 2004, 2005) with very sporadic good scores in between. What exactly happened? He was first removed as captain and then also booted out from the team. Sure, he deserved every bit of it. This 'King' guy probably believes he is working a government job with no threat to his place in the team. Let's speak about Sachin for a while. I'm sure older posters here remember his bad phase? Let's introspect, he lost his aggressive batting approach in 2004, and plenty of fans wanted him to be dropped because of that. This despite the fact that he averaged 90 in Tests in 2004. It was in 2005 when really struggled because of his injuries and ended up averaging 40 that year. Not bad by any means. He completely struggled from 2006 till the 2007 World Cup. That's around 1.3 years. What happened next? Ian Chappell wrote his article about Sachin questioning a mirror, plenty of fans turned into haters, and what not. Mind you, I'm speaking about the attitude of fans here. BCCI was terrefic with Sachin. Now have a look at the treatment Kohli has received from those set of fans since 2019. Flop, flop, flop .... "King', 'King', 'King' .... just 1 good knock away from finding his nick, blah, bhah, blah! Edited November 22 by Bublu Bhuyan mani sha, New guy and rahulrulezz 3 Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
Kohli will continue to fail and nothing will happen. In fact he'll be one of the first names in the CT squad as well despite absolutely no performance across formats. At the moment you literally have to hope for someone higher up (nepo baby Jay Shah or his dad) to have pity on us and kick him out coz selectors don't have the balls to do so. Forget Tendulkar, Kohli in tests is not even ahead of Dravid, Laxman or Sehwag based on the impact they had. At the moment he doesn't get into India's all-time XI based on his stats & record, and things will only get worse as the series goes on. SandeepMotta and SachDan 2 Link to comment
Zero_Unit
Hold the F up bro, Pak is about to play ZIM. Zim-Babar will be the talk of the town again- Zim-Babar > King Kohli. Your hate will rise to the moon my friend. Not because of Babar, but because this washed up King past his prime let discussions like this happen because of his performances over years now. Bublu Bhuyan
Dost log, I dare anyone on the forum to name just 1 Indian player ever that has survived such a long and horrendous bad patch. I don't know if there are any such player before 1970, but since then I can't think of any. Link to comment

Bublu Bhuyan
On another note, I've been left so disappointed. I considered him the second best batsman I ever saw after Sachin before 2019. I expected him to end up at the top spot in my list by the time he retired. I was positive he'd end up with 120 international centuries. I really want to meet fans who still want him in the team. I'd like to know their reasons. Link to comment

And selectors actually pulled a string on him in 1994 and forced him to retire as soon as he crossed Hadlee. With Kohli too...the fantasy of reaching 100 100's has allowed selectors to carry him for longer time. Plus a few pattas here and there helped keep his boat floating as well. But he is just mentally finished, he doesnt have any motivation left now. Link to comment

Even when I was his hardcore fan, it annoyed me like anything when his pimple faced disrespectful teenage fans disrespected Sachin to their heart's content. It's funny they are nowhere to be seen these days. Link to comment
