He was planning to do so and that's why he was batting so far outside his crease, and ended up looking like a tailender. Kohli doesn't have any scoring option anymore. He can't play cut shot. His reflexes are gone so can't pull the ball either. He doesn't know how to play sweep shot either. His only shot is drive and that's what he was trying to do by falling over and trying to drive the ball to the leg side. Aussies know that too and won't give him any scoring option. The best he can hope for is a 90 ball 15. That's his ceiling. That's why better get an additional pacer and end this panauti's chapter. We won't win otherwise.

But likes of Kohli won't. So may as well bolster our pace bowling further and make it even more difficult for Aussie batsmen and minimize the chance that they fire. Our only hope is our fast bowling so may as well back them fully. I've no hope from our batting so may as well live and die by the sword - our pace bowling. Yeah not backing Kohli by any means, but we infact need to strengthen our batting more. More runs will mean less pressure on bowlers which will enable them to manage their intensity instead of going all out every ball

That's why may as well go all in on pace bowling and do away with the batting. The actual runs will be scored by lower order and Pant anyway so may as well get one more pacer to limit the opponent's score even more.
Majestic Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 This is a long series. Pacers need to be rested too. Can’t play same team in all tests.
Norman Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Fukking prick Pandya would have added so much value to the Test side in Australia and South Africam conditions with his ability to extract bounce but the dumbasses in our TM can't have a serious talk with him to ask him return to red ball cricket. Jadeja and pandya at 7 and 8 would have been a perfect combo and we would have probably won the 2021 series in South Africa.
R!TTER Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 (edited) But you have to be realistic; BRat is not going away with RGS in the team! So what are our next best options? I'd argue if the two of them can match or exceed the number of balls played by Pajara in the 2018/19 series, we probably scrape away with the series - CA Pujara (IND) 2018-2019 4 7 - 521 193 74.42 1258 41.41 3 1 1 50 2 So roughly 70-90 balls each innings (on AVG) for them individually & at least 200-250 runs (each) across 5 tests. I know that's probably too much to ask of these *ers right now, but you have to have some plans here. Edited November 22, 2024 by R!TTER

Teengunalagaan Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 If the conditions are flat, would you play 8 batters and 3 bowlers ? You should rather play 5 and have an extra bowler, than why would would you need an extra bowler and not batsman in helpful conditions ? In fact there are more chances in these conditions to lose the match if we collapse, that's where you need some depth in the batting, 3+1 should be more than enough to do the job in these conditions, if you want give some rest to the fast bowlers, that's where Nitish and Spinners would come into play, you don't expect to bowl for 120-150 overs in these conditions, and if you have to, well than you have bigger problems than worrying about an extra quick. And besides not all pitches are going to be like this, Adelaide will depend lot on who gets the better conditions, any team batting under twilight is at risk of a collapse, Gabba isn't as fast as it used to be, only MCG would be somewhat similar to Perth. express bowling, Laaloo, Adamant and 1 other 1 3
R!TTER Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 The difference is that pitches in Oz, NZ, Eng, or SA can get better to bat on, especially Oz. Unlike India, batting first is not an advantage (90% of the time), and you can have issues bowling a team out if you don't have enough (good) bowlers.
rkt.india Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 On bowling friendly pitches, batting needs cushion. Bowlers aren't going to bowl a lot of overs. We need a better 4th pacer first who can be relied upon.
kosingh Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Now watch India lose 7 wickets to Nathan Lyon in the 2nd innings

deathmonger Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Naah, structure of lineup is good even though personnel may not be. Another pacer shortens the lineup. If it was another pacer allrounder, then maybe in place of Washi. Rotate between Siraj/Akash and Shami can come in for Bumrah when he takes a rest in 3rd or 4th test. Thing is that this is quite a flawed team with a bunch of guys aging out and another bunch too young. Good thing is Australia is also aging.

tweaker Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 We don't need 5 pacer we need pacer who are in form. Akashdeep in place of Siraj would have made a huge difference. Even Bumrah preferred debutant Harshit over " experienced " Siraj. Mosher and express bowling 2
express bowling Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 1. Jaiswal 2. Rahul 3. Gill 4. Pant 5. Jurel 6. Jadeja 7. Nitish 8. Harshit . can bat 9. Akashdeep .. can bat 10. Bumrah 11. Shami / Prasidh before he arrives Mosher and tweaker 2
deepdynamo Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 For the day night test ( + spicy pitch) and considering Rohit & Gill back ( and undroppable), I will play the following team: Rahul Jaiswal Gill Kohli Rohit Pant Jurel Akashdeep Harshit Bumrah Siraj No spinners and No Nitish Reddy in Adelaide Day Night green mamba.

I would pick Reddy ahead of Siraj. he bowled well enough to keep runs in check and top scored on a tough pitch. Akashdeep, Bumrah, Harshit and Reddy would be a good fast bowling combo if the pitch has assistance. Also depending on the pitch, a spinner may be needed in which case Sundar can replace Reddy. Siraj is the least threatening and needs to sit out regardless of any other picks. Edited November 23, 2024 by lemsip

Hopefully Rohit has a word with him and asks him to feign an injury Next time he puts one down in the slips (which can't be too far into the future), he can shake his hand vigorously, grimace hard, scream "MC BC" multiple times until the physio comes charging in, and then they can both charge back to the pavilion, after which VK will only be seen behind a glass enclosure cheering on his teammates for the rest of the series.
