Probably... But in the case of Kamboj he bowls that consistent line and length, can be probing which is more than you can say about Prasidh. At least keep pressure on as third pacer ..And in English conditions Kamboj will get seam movement

These aren't the same English conditions that were there before bazballers.

this thread is an understatement, indian bowling including spin is in a tailspin the likes of which we have not seen in a while.this is all on BCCI- despite unlimited funds they have neglected our bowling in favor of IPL  nonsense and it's marketing.

Totally agree. There appears to zero emerging bowling talent. Likes of Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav are no spring chickens and when they retire things are gonna be v bleak.

You need bowlers  who have x factor in them which can help them get batsmen out against this England team , trundlers without any weapons will be carted all over the place.

All bowlers get carted around on flat pitches. Australia conceded 592 in 107 overs against England in the last Ashes.

Yes they did and they also bowled them out defending 370 on flat pitch in the same series .Even great WI bowlers got carted all over the place on flat pitches.Even Warne and Mcgrath got carted around, that does not mean they did not have weapons to dismiss batsmen.

I don't think Indian bowlers fall in the same category as those bowlers other than Bumrah. I don't think even if they play 100 tests they would become like them either.

Bowlers need to hunt in pairs. That way the pressure is sustained by both ends.

Our 2nd pacer is a huge weaklink ....3rd pacers are inexperienced. Bumrah too becomes conservative and dont go flat out.

Till Shami was there, Bumrah had someone to rely on. Now, Siraj is even worse than Umesh (who was our 4th pacer during era of Bumrah, Shami, Ishant), shows how low our pace attack has fallen in Tests.

After the departure of Bhuvi, Umesh & Ishant and with Shami on last legs, we don't have a battery of fast bowlers anymore.

Bumrah is elite.

Siraj is at best a third support fast bowler but is forced to do a job as 2nd elite fast bowler.

Then there is long gap.

Mukesh was tried for 3 tests then discarded.

Harshit, same -- 2 test and discarded.

Akashdeep - tried for 7 tests - again in & out.

Prasidh -- 5 tests but not impressive and will be left out.

Arshdeep & Kamboj are the current hyped uncapped test prospects.

In short, nobody is being given a fair run.

If it's upto me..

I will stick to Akashdeep, Harshit & Prasidh. Siraj cant be a sure shot guarantee.

Akashdeep is a workhorse, can bowl long spells at a decent pace. Harshit can be the wildcard, who can bounce, plus he is young so has time and can keep Praisdh on its toes.

Arshdeep, Kamboj, Mukesh will bowl less than 130k on avg...Akashdeep atleast will oscillate between 132-137k. Plus Akashdeep can bat and is a decent fielder. Mukesh is just a lazy ass both with bat and on field, Arshdeep too is a very poor fielder....not sure about Kamboj though.

Siraj after playing for past 4-5 years still behaves like a rookie who looks upto his senior bowler ,doesn't take things on his hands

There is no ownership in bowlers like him, everyone in the side including a supposed lead bowler himself

No matter what speeds they operate at or runs they concede in some special conditions I would want to see them as leaders in bowling, they shouldn't be relying too much on Bumrah or someone else, take things on your hands ,be an individual leader

Prasidh matches him in mediocrity

Since the time i started watching cricket I have only seen 3 Indian bowlers who looked like leaders, here they are in decreasing order

Bumrah,Zaheer,Shami

This is pretty meagre number ,so much disappointed with Tyagi Umran Mavi and Mayank

The only way to save our pace bowling is to bring back Bharat Arun. He was the common denominator when Indian pacers were at their best. Anyone recall the 2020-21 series where even rookies like Siraj, Nattu, Saini, Thakur etc. were bowling to plans under Bharat Arun?

IMO Bharat Arun is a fast bowler whisperer. He knows how to get to the pacers, and nurture them. He knows how to be a coach and mentor. We started regressing since Bharat Arun left the setup. Take away Bumrah and it's a very sorry and troubling picture.

We need to send SOS to Bharat Arun else we're gonna be worse than we were in 90s :((

There was no such game when Australia defended 370 on a flat pitch.

Aastaylia defended same sort of target at Perth 2014 where Kohli scored ton,yes it wasn't due to Aussie bowling but Indian harakiri

On these sort of pitches you need contribution from fielders as well ,newcomers like Jaiswal are dropping catches like they are participating in wedding ceremonial games, not saying Siraj,Prasidh would have turned the tables still things change sometimes due to fielding pressure

They scored 7 100s and 4 50+ scores one of which was a 99 and you think wasn't a flat pitch. In ashes, first two tests were played on good helpful pitches, result England lost. Then they prepared flatter tracks. 370 game you are talking about was played in Lords and that wasn't a flat pitch. Only one hundred was scored in that match.

Two hunderds and one 98 and some fifties were scored in that test because both team had decent bowlers too.416 vs 470 in first innings is not a big deal given the lack of bowling quality in both sides in this  test.England played very inexperienced bowling attack here .

I can assure you if it was same Indian bowling attack, 370 would have been chased with utmost ease on Lords pitch too.Our geniuses can make any pitch flat.

You bowl well with new ball in England, you are bound to get some wickets just like Starc got in 4th innings.

But our former batting geniuses would have made even that flat pitch minefield

Especially a certain current Londoner

Same English bowlers would have made current Londoner looklike clown
