BCCI must look into this and do something about it at war footing

Red ball bowling, where you cannot escape from it,not in SENA even at home

Siraj is done,Shami is done, Bumrah will break down soon,

So what are we left with?

Mukesh,Avesh,zaleel,Kamboj,vyshak?

Do Agarkar and co. seriously see them as carrying forward the baton?

Domestics have been pathetic, noone is interested to bowl in red ball cricket?

Where is the inspiration?

Not even Bumrah inspires them

We will see once few 150ks from no names in IPL ,they will be fastracked but with their glass bodies they will show their unavailability in red ball cricket, you cannot plan around them

BCCI needs to inspire the new lot first and make the pitches better

We did not realise how lucky we were to have Bumrah, Shami, Ishant , Umesh, a new fiery Siraj etc back in 2021. Heck even Thakur was a more than decent option.

Those days are clearly beyond us now. Things are back to 2014 when we will play for draws in SENA right from day 1.

once Bumrah goes, we'll be back to the 90s

Too much investment in low ceiling, sub-international material pacers is the reason.

Rana didn't even play even a single A tour game, let alone those random ODIs or T20Is we keep playing.

Can you imagine this level of mismanagement ?

Agarkar panel is turning out to be the worst selectors panels we had. He just keeps selecting Avesh, Khalil etc.

I would like to expand further and say that our pace bowling stock are at all time low in all three formats

Tests : Bumrah (31), Shami(34), Siraj (30),  Akashdeep (28), Rana (23)...FULLSTOP
ODIs : Bumrah (31), Shami (34), Siraj (30), Arshdeep (25) , Avesh (28)
T20's : Bumrah (31), Siraj (30), Arshdeep(25), Avesh (28), Mayank (22)

A grand total of 8 bowlers, maybe add Prasidh (29) and Mukesh (31) as well...so we have 10 fast bowlers in total across 3 formats.
Out of which 3 of them haven't even played 10 games in their respective format. Where is the planning by BCCI here ?

These days FTP is announced an year or two back itself, so they were fully aware that BGT will happen in 2024-25 where they would need atleast 5-6 fast bowlers for red ball, and eventually they sent Bumrah with a reckless and two (three) rookies to fight alone.

I usually look for solutions to every problem. But this time, I am not sure if we have any solution available. Almost every possibility is a long term fix and that too only if BCCI is ready to invest in it, but frankly speaking, I really don't feel they care. The way they and TM has handled Bumrah in this series, it just makes me think if really have any understanding of fast bowling. All they seem to care about is PR, propaganda and other qtiyapa of the senior batters, so that they can keep on milking the cash cow.

What happened to kaverappa? All of a sudden Vyshak seems to be the preferred one.

1)   The most important way out is BCCI seeing to it that State Associations have incentives to pick bouncy 140 k+ pacers for Ranji Trophy and VHT. And such pacers have incentives to play the red ball and 50 over formats.

Most of the quick pacers available are either unable to play or are deliberately not playing Ranji Trophy and VHT. Then they suddenly become fit for the IPL or SMAT.

Compare this with Ishant, Umesh, Shami, Bumrah and Siraj.  All have played lots of non-test FC games.

2)  There must be a strength and conditioning coach like Shankar Basu. During his tenure, every pacer was bowling at his quickest and sustaining speeds throughout the day. Hitting the deck harder too.

3)  Team culture for bowling fast and in an aggressive manner needs to be brought back. In Indian cricket, this is usually controlled by the superstar captain.

Kohli wanted his pacers to be fast and aggressive.

Rohit wants his pacers to maintain a good line and length and not bowl flat out ( fear of losing control ). This approach does not work for long unless the pacer is super tall and bouncy.

We watched the difference in approach between Captain Bumrah in Perth and Captain Rohit thereafter. The same set of pacers were fast, aggressive and bouncy in Perth and bowling like Medium pacers thereafter.

Unless " middle aged unfit Jijaji " type Rohit is removed as captain, we won't have good Fast bowlers.

4)  There must be more efficient personnel at the NCA, in charge of rehab of pacers.

Players going for rehab at the NCA often take inordinate amounts of time to get fit again and often never do.  Or they develop new injuries.

Bhuvi, Chahar, Tyagi, Nagarkoti, Mavi, Tyagi, Prasidh, Kuldeep Sen, Mayank and now Shami. The list of pacers, botched up by the NCA, is long.

I think it's better to close this "joke of an academy" along with MRF. Better to tieup with academies in Europe and Australia who does much better work with strengthening (Zak went to Netherlands along with Yuvraj and worked on his fitness, which helped him for few more years without injuries).

We have idiots running NCA, total fools who have no idea what is the root cause of injuries. All they know is to "tweak the action".
Someone came with a brilliant idea of altering Mayank's action coz they "felt" his action was putting more strain on his abdominal, guess what, even with an altered bowling action and at 8-10k slower speed, Mayank is again having issues at the same place. :cantstop:

And I need Ramanujan's s brain in Arnold Schwarzenegger's body.

Chances of both seem same to same

135k would do. By the way RP singh was bowling at 144k in the world T20, 2007.

MRF has produced fast bowlers. But for other countries lol  Mcgrath, Brett Lee,  Mitch Johnson

It's not that they don't exist. But the culture seems to have shifted away from pace again to bowlers who can bowl 24 slower balls or wide yorkers or whatever it takes to succeed in modern T20s.

I would take Mukesh over Siraj any day. This was bound to happen as Bumrah and Shami were the true heroes over the last few years and not the so called "King" or "Hitman". Those useless has beens can be replaced in a heartbeat as our T20 team is showing or we see whenever these two asshats aren't in the team.

Bumrah and Shami have kept us relevant for a decade now and it's unfortunate they never received support from batters and they had to drag the team. Now Shami isn't there and Bumrah is doing all the hard running and I suspect he would be stepping back and taking a hard look after the series whether it's worth it. If I'm Bumrah I would retire from Tests and focus on shorter formats to enhance my playing career. What's the point of putting your body and career on the line to drag useless corpses of Kohli and Rohit?

Indias failure to exploit overcast conditions is revealing. Pitch may be good to bat on. But when atmospheric conditions help seamers where you have to play with batsmen in the air more we are found wanting. Hope Reddy develops swing bowling skills like CDG, Stokes who are not really express.

yes, pace bowling is dead.

But @Suhaan, so is our future batting. None of Gill, Iyer, Sarfaraz, Padikkal, etc seem convincing overseas; and I have my doubts too about Jaiswal now for SENA specifically.

I just want to clarify (because people may misunderstand) that this does not mean that I am supporting RoKo or non-performing seniors. They should be booted out first.

we need to play this attack in SENA:

harshal "marshall" patel

jaidev "roberts" undercutter

mukesh "holding" kumar

bhuvi "garner" kumar

On a serious note, a passable SENA attack assuming everyone to be fit is: Bumrah, Shami (if he is ever fit again), Rana, Siraj/Prasidh (Prasidh was terrible, absolutely so, in SA, but might merit 1 or 2 more chances)
