'Godi Media' existed since forever, BJP are just newbies in town. It was worse during the pre Social media days when the Cong and the leftists had complete stranglehold on media and people weren't even aware about it back then.

 

Today atleast we get to hear about the Hindu point of view. Earlier talking about Hindus was considered blasphemous in a Hindu majority country! Look how they whitewashed the Hindu/Sikh genocide in  Kashmir during 80s-90s or spread blatant disinformation about the Godhra train burning and subsequent riots.
