tapandrun Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 Per Icc rule out side ICC events only asia cup can have more than 3 teams participating in the tournament. Tri series are nt eco. viable, ppl just say it will make series intesting but hardly any1 watches when 2 visiting teams play each other and if the home team can not make it to the finals, then finals also become lacklustre. This is even true fr icc events when home team is nt playing there is no audiences in the ground there is no1 watching on tv or app. With bilateral series almost all the matches are houseful, ppl are interested to watch it on tv and apps, even ppl come to dead rubbers. Its eco. more viable. A tri series has to be atleast 8 match series where each team plays other team twice then only it makes sense, play only once against each team cutting the series down to 4 matches makes no sense. And there are other reasons too why tri series lost it popularity amongst the boards and boardcasters logestics and some other issues

They are just used to try out players. Tri series in the past were memorable, whether its Natwest, CB series or Sharjah cup.

Tri series in the past were memorable, whether its Natwest, CB series or Sharjah cup. They were memorable coz we only had one ICC tourney every 4 years - World Cup. Now we've WT20 every other year, ODI WC, Test Championship, CT, and IPL. With so many tourneys, tri-series would be treated the same as bilaterals these days. But in the past they held some value as teams played their first XI. Not the case anymore where your top team doesn't play other than the ICC tourneys. tapandrun 1

There was ier vs sa series in uae no1 came to watch, how many neutral side matches were houseful in Wc-2023, how many neutral side match was houseful in wc2022 and wc25. Ppl just quote 1-2 series here there, but largely there are not many takers for neutral games icc didnt make much from t20i wc even when ind won the cup, the timings were set so that matches can be broad casted during ind evenings so the t20 wc matches were played as day matches not day and night, not even afternoon. even domestic final and sf happen under lights. local t20 leagues happen under lights Edited February 7, 2025 by tapandrun

rageaddict Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 Once upon a time, India used to organize Tri-Series with Bangladesh and Kenya and even those matches used to be passionately followed by the fans. I remember watching all the matches ball by ball . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998_Coca-Cola_Triangular_Series Kenya even won a match against India so not completely one sided Tournament. rollingstoned and Lord 2

I will talk to SA to get your approval before finalizing their team and no uncapped player.

Most sides on random times play their alt sides in bilaterals, that is not something uncommon these days Look at Aus how they are treating even this CT,this will be more common for forthcoming CTs Edited February 8, 2025 by Suhaan tapandrun 1
Gollum Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 Love tri-series, quadrangulars etc. That is why I enjoyed Asia Cups in recent years despite the pathetic quality of South Asian cricket.

Are you seriously saying that the team South Africa are sending is anywhere close to full strength? It's not even about pakistan...even when they toured New Zealand for Tests last year, they sent a C team because of SA20 and most posters here pointed that out.
Lone Wolf Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 Abrar strikes Ravindra gone. NZ also playing a Phaaaaaast attack
rageaddict Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 First Match of the series today between Pakistan and NZ, Jabardast start by Pakistani bowlers already they look unbeatable and Pakistan team looks top contender for the tournament. Laaloo 1

Winning ODI series in Aus and SA is a big deal for them. Even we have won only 2 ODI series in SA till this day.
