I was more impressed with our group stage win. India bowled really well that day.

Iyer's SF knock is one of the greatest innings by an Indian, period. 350 wouldn't have been enough that day, and the way Kohli batted, he thought 330-340 was par (reminded me of Dhawan's 120 in 2017 CT against Lanka). Losing a home SF against Kiwis after the 2019 humiliation would have been unbearable.

With Rohit and Kohli in the team that's not an outlandish possibility. I expect India to lose to most of the better teams as carrying 2 passengers in the top 3 aren't gonna win you too many matches.

Jadeja decent against NZ.

For Bumrah, NZ is the bogey team. they neutralize him easily even on greentops. Main reason why they dominate us.

Easily. Sheer impact, that knock. Kohli's interview to Star where he said 330 was enough spoke volumes about his understanding of the game.

Right about that. Also we must be ultra aggressive against them, even at the risk of it backfiring. NZ has a steady tempo, very few unforced errors, need to break that rythym by going hard at them and inducing errors. That is what Aussies generally do against them, even Pak in 90s and 00s.

we need to win 4 out of 5 matches to win the CT. Out of them 1 would be against bangladesh. So basically we need to win 3 out of 4 matches against top teams. Looking at it with this lens India in dubai should have enough dry powder

Bhai, check what happened in the 2017 CT group game against Lanka. 23 SF was almost a carbon copy (Dhawan and Kohli played similar match losing innings), difference was Iyer's freak knock (60 ball 100 is amazing even in a meaningless bilateral against Ireland). Had we ended at say 350 (Kohli was happy with just 330), Shami wouldn't have been able to save us. 

 

In fact that CT loss to Lanka messed up our decision making for the final, benching Umesh/Shami, opting to field first etc.

Uae matches are all win toss, bowl first lz chase and win. Every team which os chading is winning easily in that pyjama league going on there now just like the 2021 T20 wc.

we dropped catches as well if i remember in that ct lanka match. Also we won the toss in finals. It was a freak innings from Fakhar like ponting in 2003 and Chris Cairns 2000. 2023 wc final we were well n truely beaten
