Harry Brook is captain? Butler has IPL fatigue ?

Need to look out for this series for players who would fare against India next month.

Buttler gave up captaincy after their Champions Trophy fiasco . Brook is permanent white ball captain now

Poor decisions and execution by Windies.

Bowling first ,  seamers bowling 38 % of deliveries wide on either side in Powerplay(England - only 19%), Hope not finishing spinners' quotas   etc.

They'll need another pacer for Matthew Forde and a quality back up option as well if they want to compete in 2027.

in 70s and 80s every fast bowler to emerge from WI was most express but last 25 years we have not seen express fast bowlers emerge from WI.

Fidel Edwards, Oshane Thomas were quickest .. Oshane lost pace due to injury

Fidel was rapid in his peak years

Edwards was too small to have an impact still he had his moments.Tall , fast plus bouncy were trademarks of those great WI fast bowlers.

They were so many in span of those 20 -25 years. All of them  would have been aces if they played in different era.

Not sure of express claims of pre-speedometer bowlers. Were they fast for time sure they were. Were they clocking 150+kmph regularly season after season ...???

Lee akthar era of fast bowling overshadows alot of fast bowlers and near express bowlers of the same time. At that every team had a bowler who was bowling near express apart from Ind. Think that was the fastest era of fast bowling based on the readings of those speedometer.

Now talking of wi since the speedometer -Edwards, Best, taylor, ronch, thomas , gabrial, at times alzeri have all bowled 145+kmph and some of these even touched or bowled 150+ kmph.

Wi moved away from tall fast bowlers with v.high releases was because of introduction of no-ball rule then reverse swing and new kind of fast bowlers like wasim and waqar.

Now wi pitches are not helpful for fast bowlers and if as a cricketer some1 wants to make mny is to play t20 cricket so as WI cricket pivots towards t20 cricket 145+kmph bowler will become fewer, need bowlers with more variations , even batting is needed and its better to be shepard than alzeri rt now.

The problem is if they are not v.well established and proven fast bowlers there is v.less demand of such kind of bowler in t20 league set-ups, so having t20 variations and some batting skills help these bowlers get picked for various t20 sides.

Yep. It's a myth that Windies bowlers' were all express pacers.

The quickest bowler may well have been Pat Patterson with his run up , action and long levers .

The biggest myth is actually Malcolm Marshall's pace.

A momentum driven, hip dominant bowler who had an angular run up, barely used his front arm and could not brace his front leg. No long levers either.

Doubt his top speed in prime was anything more than 145 kph, let alone average speed .

Rushed batters because he had a fast arm and batters couldn't pick his length and release point.

His pace is way overrated.

No it is not just speed which was the reason for their dominance. It is the bounce and accuracy. They all bowled heavy balls .

As far as speed in concerned as they were express. If guy like Prassid is 140 K bowler then those WI were express fast.

Other than Sabina Park and Barbados most of the pitches were not helpful for fast bowlers.

Patrick Patterson according to Dujon was the fastest bowler he kept wickets but he is not even in their top 10 great fast bowlers list.So it is not just speed which made them greatest bowling attack ever seen in 80s.

Sylvester Clarke who was described by Viv and  Steve Waugh as nastiest fast bowler they ever faced, he hardly found place in those teams.Viv and Steve Waugh could play fast bowling. If he was playing in any other generation he would have picked 300 plus test wickets easily.

The relentless pounding of 4 different great fast bowlers made them greatest bowling attack and still greatest team ever. They would pound any batting team even today into submission.

I also don't think reverse swing had anything to do with them not having tall fast bowlers. There is no explanation on why they had so many fast bowlers emerge at the same time. That is just an era which cannot be replicated.
