Kuldeep 1.0 has a 5fer in Sydney where we haven't won in like 40 years. Jadeja is not going to scare any English batter. Remember Kuldeep and Jaiswal won us the test series against England at home. His 5fer on a flat Day 1 track in Dharamsala scarred English batters. They can't pick him. Frankly our pace bowling stocks barring Bumrah are unreliable. And KD has highest ceiling among the bowling group after Bumrah. Makes sense to play him. I Fully trust Bharat Arun when it comes to tactics in bowling department. Since the advent of Bazball pitches and the inferior version of Dukes ball in 2022, Lyon is the only spinner to have done well over there. Spin gets hammered, otherwise

So we select bowlers for their batting rather than cutting edge, define the keeper mainly as a pure batter and bat him way too high and choose captains for their instagram following and PR rather than proven leadership qualities. It's as easy to play your best bowlers. Likes of Brooks have even struggled to pick Kuldeep in Limited overs. Headingley always has some bounce and zip in the pitch which Kuldeep relishes. I fully expect our Pacers to fumble their lengths there. They did it in 2021.. they will do it again. Nasser Hussain always said bowling length in Leeds and rest of the country is always different.

If tracks are that flat a left arm Wrist spinner who they have historically struggled against is a good call. Edited June 7, 2025 by Lone Wolf

England have consistently used Bashir and he has generally delivered even though he is nowhere in Kuldeep's class as a bowler and wicket taking threat. He took a 6-for in the last game as well and proved a harder proposition to face than the medium pacers England had in the side. Lone Wolf 1

Not reliable. He can do well but don't have high hopes.

Facts.. more revs on the ball and these flat tracks seem to suit Bashir. Kuldeep can be deadly on his day.. Not easy to sweep him these days. Attacking fields with short leg leg slip and a slip.. they will fumble. Edited June 7, 2025 by Lone Wolf

In Shami's absence, Bumrah apart India have no other bowlers who offer a different challenge to the strong English batting lineup. Kuldeep bowled very well the last time the two teams met and in fact looked more threatening than Ashwin. He was underused by Rohit in that series actually. There's obviously the option of packing the side with assorted medium pace trundlers ( Thakur, Reddy etc) which every England batsman plays every day in these conditions. That strategy has shown to be a losing one.

Khaleel was a reserve in t20 wc and CT to act as a replica threat for mitchell starc shaheen afridi marco jansen.. so he is getting his rewards for that reserve act by getting to see London Bridge and Big Ben for free. vvvslaxman 1
test fan Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 Anshul kamboj is real deal . These Zaleel and Deshpande are garbage bowlers. Apart from kamboj ,I don't see any quality test bowler in the domestic cricket .

vvvslaxman Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 Indian batsmen have to step up massively as we will be chasing leather in this series. Their batting is insanely deep. Even no.10 can make 100.

Nikhil_cric Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 Just add Kamboj to the squad already. He isn't some world beater as his ceiling isn't the highest but he's better than the rest . rollingstoned 1
