Gavaskar's name is already associated with India-australia Border-Gavaskar trophy.

That's why Kapil-Botham would've been perfect. Or even Tendulkar-Hutton or Tendulkar-Hobbs as they were all batting giants.

I think the idea is to name one contemporary from each team. Hutton and Hobbs are wayyy before Tendulkar.

PR win for English cricket. They have elevated Anderson to the status of a GOAT contender by associating his name with SRT.

Botham-Dev was the only fair option IMO. Both similar in stature and contemporaries, same roles.

For what lol, tendu was mostly terrible against England especially in England. Should've named it after Dravid if anything.

Sachin averaged in mid 50s in England till the 2011 series. Saved a test as an 18 year old, dominated them in 1996, 2002, contributed in our 2007 win (top scorer in Trent Bridge, wrongly given out in 90s). How is that terrible?

2011 is when England started to have real bowling attack and making pitches suiting their bowlers. From 1979 to 2007. Most Indian series in England were played on pretty flat pitches. where result was 1-0 or in favour of winners.Bastmen made merry in those series.

Kapil Dev has avg of 35 plus in England so for Sachin to have 50 plus avg is not a big deal.Guy like Ganguly has 65 avg in England.
