England-India Test series to be named Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy

The series used to be called the Pataudi Trophy when played in England and the Anthony de Mello Trophy when held in India

 

Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson will have their names etched on prestigious silverware as ECB and BCCI have decided to name the Test series between England and India the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

 

The trend follows the naming of the Crowe-Thorpe trophy in November 2024, which goes to the winner of Test series between England and New Zealand. Similarly, India and Australia compete for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Tests.

Yup, Kapil-Botham is much better than Tendulkar-Anderson

Sachin is a bigger player, downgrade for him. Also different roles for both, not exactly contemporaries since Sach had already played for 15+ years before facing Andu for the first time. Should have been Lara-Tendulkar trophy. Or better yet, Kallis-Tendulkar to replace the Freedom trophy.....we may not play WI much in coming years. 

 

Botham-Dev fits well.

Pretty sure next in line is Kohli-Williamson trophy.

 

Our bowlers will never get such honours. Kumble never got one and he was the biggest matchwinner in Fab 4 era. 

 

Bumrah deserves a stadium in his name, forget trophy. Born in Ahmedabad, replace Namo with Bumrah !!!!!

It is completely odd. Same thoughts. They were not exactly contemporaries. Tendulkar was already being compared with Bradman when Anderson was in his high school.

Tendulkar is in top ten as a test batsman but Andy is not even in top 25 as a test bowler. While both have amassed their records based purely on their longevity.

Anderson-Kohli would have made sense as both are on similar level. Probably closer to all time 50

How can it be Tendulkar-Lara or Kallis-Tendulkar? The series is between India and England isn't it?
