Thats called as cultural shock, there was no social media or internet that day. So, they didn't knew or weren't aware that these barbarians didn't follow the long established ground rules.
Yeah, we can call them naive. But tbh...200-300 years from now even the future gen will call us Naive and fools coz we let Pak walk freely despite having an upper hand in Op Sindoor.

They weren't cut off from rest of the world they pretty much knew about these tactics and stuff like that.  Afghan Turkic invasions weren't new to the area. Rather it was Ghurid noticing that he might have something to work with there... plus his horse archers were the ultimate difference. Everything about that battle is a tactical masterclass how to get destroyed by a smaller invading force.

Centuries later the great Rana sangha managed something unimaginable.. and he was so so close it is honestly very depressing. His untimely death sealed North India's fate for worse.

What's more upsetting is KDR was his contemporary in Vijayanagara.  Him pushing North upto Narmada (which was likely) and Rana ousting Babur would have been absolute Cinema.

This is the closest India got to its reconquista sadly.

Ah, not one man. We lost so many opportunities.

Man Singh & Maharana Pratap both were able warriors...only difference was in mental strength. Same Man Singh who wipes out Afghans and washed his blood soaked sword in Kabul River...couldn't show the same courage like Shakti Singh and joined hands with Pratap during haldighati.

Had he did that, and rajputs foughts bravely alongside each other. Likes of Abul Fazal and other jokers would have wiped put from the face of earth. But Man Singh wasnt ready to take the risk of his own civilian casualty (even though Mewar took hit multiple times).

Then the coalition of Mirza Jai Singh ,Maharana Raj Singh & Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj...had both Raj Singh & Shivaji Maharaj lived for few more years...Mughal rule would have ended infront of Aurangzeb's prime years only. Unfortunately they both died in 50's while the tyrant like Aurangzeb lived for 90+ years. Pratap too died in his 50's...fighting his all life against the tyrants.

That was still much later period.. Mughals had pretty much solidified their rule by then and there were other factors at play as well.  In 1528 entire North was fragmented and was anyone's game.  Rajputs were united for a common cause..  even Khanzadas who were converted were allied with Rana.

Muslim population back then was not that huge and a Spanish style reconquista was definately on.

Sangha and Co and KDR had a once in a lifetime opportunity literally.

In the age where knowledge can be acquired through a variety of means, subjects like History should be phased out or made optional with no pass-fail requirement, allowing students to focus on other areas.

Discuss and debate a topic in an optional class, make notes if you want, and move on if you want. Come back next time for another topic.

Yes a small issue given unnecessary attention while the case of a girl committing suicide due to molestation has been put on back burner for obvious reasons.

It’s almost daily news with political parties throwing dung at each other and doing politics over rape. This is significant in nation’s perspective. Need focus on both kinds of issues

Its about prioritising

How does this have any relevance to today's life? Akbar being a tyrant or benevolent in his times does not change anything in larger perspective. Its just a point of debate.

You are so disconnected with this identity politics. The fact that it roots back to two nation theory still hounds rest of  India. It might not be important now, but a change in such historical narrative is profound. If we correct it now, UCC could be a reality, Wakf reformation could be effected and we could move forward as a nation in

Ahoms deserved to be taught about more and I guess they are now included in NCERT curriculum for a while now.

Vijayanagara has a dedicated chapter along with Bahmanis.

Tripartite Struggle is mentioned but you can't allow kids syllabus to be that hectic so its fine.  UPSC aspirants go in depth obviously.

Pan India empires like Mauryas Guptas and Harshas are always going to have more impact along with Sultanate and Mughals in our books.

Easy explanation

Sorry can't see how those things are related to 7th std syllabus or what kings did centuries ago. Just the current prevailing conditions demand those things and should be done ASAP. It requires political will and intent not narrative. Surely some protests will be there but no narrative can prevent them anyway

If we wait to build enough narrative to do the right things, it will be too late anyway.

I didn't say the impact will happen the next day or year. It might take 2 or 3 generations, but do see the value of this in the future.

You are reading too much into this. And giving it undue importance.

There is always a recency bias.

We are likely to come across more literature and movies from WW2 than from Alexanders' wars etc.

Dehati Indian audience isn't that mentally equipped to study in depth about WW2 stuff.  There is a reason no such stuff has been seen yet (for Indian consumption)

Not interested in the same to be honest. WW2 was a white man's war, Indians were used as pawns and their contribution is never valued.

More interested in ancient stuff, such as Indus Valley Civilization.

TBH your interest or no interest is no relevance here: if we are teaching history we should also teach modern world history. If we can teach about british Raj why cant teach about world wars as the Raj was responsible for India's involvement and many deaths. They are all linked.

I feel learning about WW2 will be more of a chore since most Indians will find it hard to relate to the events emotionally. Superficial stuff is fine which used to be taught in our time but going in depths? Maybe not.

Besides, all WW2 literature will be having heavy Allied power bias, more from US/UK/Jewish perspective.

You misunderstood by what I meant as a recency bias.

The recent events get an undue coverage in our syllabus. The Mughals, War of Independence, British Rule etc have all happened in the last 500 years. There is more material on them than Ashoka who ruled more than 2000 years ago.

Its like how most people would say that MSD is a better batsman than Gavaskar. Oh wait, but he is a better batsman than Gavaskar.

I have not read it . But found this synopsis online. The evil Nazi is a hunter/killer pilot

https://commandocomics.fandom.com/wiki/The_Black_Eagle

Major Heinrich Keil of the Luftwaffe was an ace…and a killer. A mad, evil Nazi whose chief delight was to hunt and kill, whether he was chasing animals on the ground or British pilots in the air.

Now he was going after another British pilot but this time he was going to hunt him down in the forest…with a crossbow.
