Negative line-up for England.

 

Looks like they are just hoping to bat India out of the game.

 

Win the toss and bat first unless bowling conditions too good to be true.

 

Bat normally but if things are going well look to take down Root and Bethell when they bowl.

Interestingly, England are going in without a spinner in their final XI. If India can keep them out in the field for a long time, they will find it tough.

Archer hasn't been that good. Tongue has more wickets than archer this series.

I think it most likely a decision they ended up with simply because of the lack of options.

With Archer, Stokes and Carse out, they needed to find 3 replacement bowlers and one replacement bat for Stokes as well.

 

Between Bethell and Root they can get some overs of spin to rotate their bowlers and their impact will not really be that different to Dawson's anyway.

They are forcing a 36 year old Woakes to play his fifth test in a row. He was already struggling and barely able to cross 128 kph so this may give the Indian batsmen the weak link to target once the new ball is seen off.

England will give the flattest pitch scientifically possible. 

 

We must play Kuldeep. Regardless of the conditions, he's still a better bet than our 3rd or 4th pace options.

Its a seaming deck.Not a green mamba but one surrey hope will last 4 days (untill sunday) with an England win. 

 

As things stand there are major thunderstorms on Thursday or the first day.

 

England cant afford another flat track to induce injury for the ashes.

 

Atkinson is coming off injury and cannot bowl long spells. Woakes too is running on an empty tank.

SL and England both played four specialist fast bowlers here last year. SL bowled England out for 156 in the second innings and chased 200 odd in the 4th innings. All 10 wickets picked by their fast bowlers.

2. Siraj 
3. Arshdeep, Under friendly conditions, will come good.
4. Prasidh is my preferred choice, probably the last chance to come good. Even Anshul can be a success in these conditions.

Archer is one level up to Tongue. Archer got some critical wickets, including Gill, in the 2nd test we lost. 

Archer is not playing, is music is to my ears, as I feel Archer is the best English pacer. He and Stokes are the reasons we lost two tests; Stokes did get some wickets, but Archer took key wickets.

But i think get another batsman in....even 50 to 60 extra runs in two innings worth it. Washington and thakur have been under bowled.

With pant injured india needed more cover.

 

Nair has ensured that while india have been up against it due to losing the toss its not a total wipe out either. 

 

Probably one final chance for Nair. Makes a 100 and will go lomg way to cementning his place.
