T20I comeback: Shreyas Iyer likely to be part of India's Asia Cup 2025 squad

T20I comeback, selectors have him in their T20 WC plans? Ind pitches ok for him, but does he warrant a place?

 

We already have SKY (captain), Tilak, Hardik, Axar, NKR....assume Abhishek and Sanju are openers. I think with the poor form of Rinku, we should have a specialist batsman like Shreyas in the reckoning, guy can be clutch and also some leadership qualities, good fielder (that Carey direct hit run out in CT SF is so underrated).

Rinku seems to have forgotten batting in recent games. Still young, jigra wala banda, will bounce back, but so close to T20 WC, don't think he makes the squad.

Parag sundar rinku are all in mix. Nkr still in rehab as far as i know

We will play varun/ kuldeep. We cant play both as then we will have batting only till 7 as arshdeep bumrah 10 and 11. . Therefore we need 2 spin all rounders. The 3 choices we have is sundar axar and parag. We need to choose 2 from here. Parag is a better batsman sundar a better bowler. We need 20 overs. So bumrah arshdeep varun will bowl 12. Rest 8 overs to be bowled by pandya and the 2 allrounders. There in lies the strategising.

Yes same. We need to learn from Jadeja experience. Sundar isnt even a great fielder.

 

Good thing for him we have lots of options now unlike that time. Kuldeep Varun Axar Sai Kishore, Parag etc.

 

Just need our selectors to have brains and seperate formats.

Kuldeep is good enough to bat at 8 in T20s. No. 8 mostly needs to bat for 1 over max

Sky has done zilch for India in International t20s after last wt20. Merit wise he doesnt warrant a place. Idiot keeps getting out to same shot. Ideally Tilak should be batting at 3 and Iyer at 4.

I think he warrants a place, and it's a big step and I know won't happen but he should be captain ( in ODI too but that is different story)

 

To fit him in we would need to trust Abhishek and Tilak more with the ball, unfortunately they barely get to bowl in IPL because of impact player rules but they can bowl 2 to 3 overs between them

 

My ideal full strength squad would be

Tilak too low tbh but need to compromise. Nigam could be a good no 8! if given a run

Last two ICC events, dew didn't screw us over because of match timings (it is a given that we will lose all important tosses).

 

Hope BCCI swallows its greed and pushes for early start, say 5 or 6 pm.
