We can't win with brain dead and one-dimensional cricketers like Siraj and Prasidh

Title says it all. In order to be a consistent winner you need multi-skilled and higher cricketing IQ players. You can't win with players who can't hold a bat, can't field or catch and aren't that great in their "area of specialization" as well.

We'll lose this series due to the difference between our lower order and Eng's. All we get from our bowlers are a score of 0, 0, 0 and a collapse, and consistent drops and misfields. Eng, and other strong teams like Aus have bowlers who can provide resistance. Someone like Cummins would actually bat at 7 for us.

We turned the corner in shorter formats once we finally learned the lesson that specialists won't help you win consistently. The Kohli model of 5 batters and 5 specialist bowlers who can't do anything else was a failure and the moment we moved away from it we won 2 tourneys. And it's important to keep in mind that in none of those 2 wins did someone like Siraj feature in knockouts. He was dropped from the WT20 team when knockouts started and wasn't in the CT team.

Unless we do the same in Tests we'll struggle. We lost the 1st Test coz our tail collapsed in both innings when we were 350/5. And same in this Test when likes of Prasidh and Siraj couldn't even last a few balls across both the innings. Have to make it mandatory for batting till 9 with spot for only 2 specialist bowlers - one of them being Bumrah.

Nothing wrong with the bowling; the fact that we are competing like this is because of our bowling.

First test- great opportunity to kill the game. Plodding and poking, went no where and gave England an achievable target.

2nd test- bowlers won it for you

3rd test- bowlers set up the game but. batsmen crapped it.

4th test- the plodding, scratching and  poking  helped draw the game on a patta so credit where due.

5th test-3 bowled have bowled their heart out.

Siraj is my man of the series if you ask me. He has been lion hearted in batting friendly  conditions. Prasidh has shown while he is mediocre, being phaaasht has more  merit than being a line and length trundler like Kamboj etc :nice:

 Poor post.

You want allrounders so why not target Sai Karun or even Jaiswal KL? Fast bowling is a strenuous job anyway we don't have much pace allrounders

Siraj has been immense this series with Bumrah doing his thing. Even Prasidh has 8 wickets this game

It's not just bowlers.

Even batsmen are becoming one dimensional.

Pujara, Rahane, Sharma did batting and nothing else. Rahane was good fielder, but others were not great at field either.

Then we have likes of Sai, Nair who are not great at their main skill and don't look good at field either.

You can't rely on anyone to roll arm for 5 overs, bowl medium pace till new ball.

You can't be a consistent winner when the bowlers can't hold the bat and the last 3 or 4 batters (tail) go 0,0,1,0. The reason we are tough to beat at home is that we remove these useless shytes with spinners who can bat. Likes of Jadeja, Ashwin, Sundar, Axar etc. gave us depth with bat and ball. But our pacers are simply pathetic. I don't expect them to average 20+ but surely an expectation to average around 10 and last 20 balls isn't asking for the moon.

If they had done this throughout the series, we probably either lead the series or would be even. And it's not as if these so called "specialist" bowlers make a difference while bowling. They still need a total of 500+ to defend as they can't defend anything under 400. If that's the case may as well add depth.

The Men of Series for India were Sundar and Jadeja (after Gill in the 1st two Tests) who consistently showed up and put up a fight. Siraj wouldn't be anywhere in the discussion for man of series.

I'm all for limiting specialist batters as well. This should be the last Test of Karun Nair's career, and we can't have more than 2 specialist batters either. Pick Jaiswal and Gill as the two specialist and get players who can roll their arms. They can't do any worse than useless Karun Nair. I would rather see Sundar at 5 than a piece of shyte like Karun Nair.

Fully agreed with specialist batters. See my post above. Can't have more than 2 specialist batters either. Pick 2 top batters and rest have to be able to bowl.

We loose ,when the playing 11 was selected. The coach, asst coaches, captain, team management were not able to select  the team according to pitch ,overcast conditions.

In this test, Shardul or Arshdeep should have played in place of either Karun or Sai

Give Siraj a break. You are being too harsh on him.

There's a reason both our ICC trophies have come with Siraj not in the team. Siraj is an extremely low IQ player who will phuck it up. He's like a fancy ornament who looks good on display but doesn't make a difference in reality.

Arshdeep should've played ahead of Prasidh. Nitish Reddy injury really phucked us as he should've played instead of useless Karun Nair. Averaging 20 odd in this series was criminal.

Aren't you the same guy who makes these types of wrist slitting threads and than puts the team on a pedestal when they win?

Why only bowler should hold a bat ,why can't any of the top batsman hold the ball.

We need Riyan Parag, Tilak ,in the top 5 who can bowl some overs .

First of all bringing people like sai cuz of “ipl” is a big mistake. Then nair? Out of no where he comes back, then we have one hella aweful fast bowlers who cant even keep run rate down let alone take wickets. OH AND best we can expect from them is 4-5runs, atleast 40 runs leaked cuz of their fielding, maybe other 50-100 cuz of their catching. So their if you calculate all thing they come up -50 runs for the team minimum every test.

they all need to go minus siraj.

also gill, what kind of of captain is he? He picks two spinners. One barely even got the ball and batted at 8-9. This is criminal and deserves pelting from our public.

Unfortunately it is exactly this kind of thinking that is making our management choose players like Thakur and pick too many all rounders, effectively bits and pieces. Going into this test with three bowlers is a result of this logic.

You're right in that Ideally our tail would be decent batsmen. But they are not. So we make so with what we have, we don't hedge our bets with some one like Thakur or even NKR: we choose either a specialist bowler or batman.

Picking on Siraj for not being a good lower order bat when he has been herculean in spirit with the ball is silly

We should have dropped Sai an picked another pacer. This would have helped India to give breather to the pacers. The team selection overall in the series has been very poor.We might end up losing 3-1 because of dumb selection decision.

What good is that "herculean" effort when you drop sitters, have low cricketing IQ, can't hold the bat to save your life. All these negatives outweigh the positives. There's a reason why India won ICC tourneys with likes of Axar in there instead of Siraj.
