I dont know if its something personal, but I don’t like Tilak Varma. There’s something about him that gives me neg vibes, very quota player types.

 

Anyways Samson is doing well, has scored 3 centuries recently, has the backing of the team management. I don’t see why he should or could be dropped for a black sheep Jitesh Sharma. They probably won’t want the Justice gang to come out again.

 

So why shouldn’t both Gill and Samson play? Why shouldn’t Gill replace Tilak Varma at No 3? Even Samson can drop down to No. 3, where he plays for RR often.

 

I don’t see why India can’t bench Jitesh and Tilak for the sake of continuity.

 

And finally, keep Rinku Songh at No. 8 or whatever.

 

Gill, Sharma, Samson, SKY, Hardik, Axar, Dube, Rinku, Varun, Arshdeep, Bumrah.

 

What’s wrong with this XI? It’s the most obvious choice.

Its nt about mixing the format it about marketability of GIll over say SKy, Axar or Pandaya. They do not care who is good or bad at this point or what is suited for which format.

Its similar how they tried KL and Panth in all those formats and they were looked as next captains because of their marketability rather than if they are suited fr the format or not. They were thought as next big thing or if not may be a stop-gap

Gill doesn't deserve to play at any position. Iyer obviously at 3 if at all he plays. He had a strike rate of 180 for a no 3 in IPL2025.

Think Gill will open and Sanju will move to 5/6. Jitesh is in the team there just because if they keep Panth/KL there may be pressure on sanju's position each-time.

So to avoid all the noise what they have done is distributed Wk roles -- Test - Panth and back up Jurel (there will be no noise if jurel just sits out), In OdIs --KL and back is Panth (KL is always under pressure no matter who is on the bench), T20is --Sanju and Back-up is jitesh (they can have any no-name wk there) to  keep sm noise away from comparing Panth and Sanju after each match.

 

 

Iyer was out of picture from T20i formats because of his issues with short-ball this seems to be sorted out now.

 

So here is the conspiracy theory --Iyer is not there because they donot want so many player breathing under Sky's/or who ever they think is next in succession (may be gill) neck lining for Captaincy role.

 

They made axar the vc and you can clearly see during the matches panday is less involved in decision making as he was previously, think he is been told to stay away frm looking like part of leadership or be a silent leader.

Certainly a poor choice to pick Gill above Jaiswal & Iyer

That too made him the vice captain 

Its only a try to create a brand for gill after Kohli 

The big milking cow for BCCI 

But to be honest Gill is not a bad T20 batsman on flat tracks he can bat at a strike rate of 150.

 

on tricky tracks he can be the anchor finisher 

His overall strike rate is also 140 which is by no means bad

But at this point & time Iyer & Jaiswal are way ahead of Gill in t20s

Let's hope Gill silences all if & buts & be the all formats captain for the decade to come
