Gollum Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Just now, nitinbwj said: Neeraj Chopra’s 2025 results and marks in 2025 so fa Doha Diamond League 2025 - 2nd (90.23m) Paris Diamond League 2025 - 1st (88.16m) Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 Bengaluru - 1st (86.18m) Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 - 1st (85.29) Diamond League 2025 Final Zurich - 2nd (85.01m) Potchefstroom Invitational 2025 South Africa - 1st (84.52m) World Athletics Championships 2025 will be a rare disappointment. Don't think he will make top 4 Think he has finished 1st or 2nd in last 20 events or something like that, amazing consistency. He breached 90 this year, biggest positive. nitinbwj, rollingstoned and Tillu 1 2
rollingstoned Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Yadav with his personal best today.
nitinbwj Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Yadav has to get past 86.67 (Curtis Thomson) to get a podium finish. Currently at 4th. Neeraj will most likely get eliminated this round
Gollum Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Rest up champ, still a great season. rollingstoned and nitinbwj 1 1
deathmonger Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Can another S.Yadav do something great?
nitinbwj Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Neeraj ends up outside the podium places for the first time in 26 competitions.
Number Posted September 18, 2025 Author Posted September 18, 2025 Finishing in top 2 of 26 major events consecutively. What a great run. It had to end somewhere, good that we got Sachin when it ended who looks consistent.
deepdynamo Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 @Gollum 3 years to Olympics 2028, who would you consider our medal prospects currently? For me, Both Men & Women cricket should bring in two medals. Compound Archery(Mixed Team) is our strongest chance as well. Neeraj & S.Yadav ( effortlessly throwing 85+) Javelin are in the mix too.

Too early now. Realistically 1 medal from cricket (don't have high hopes on the women, though even a bronze will be cool), but again not sure about the format, how many teams will be there. Compound archery 1-2 Wrestling 3-4 medals, watch out for our women !!!! Hearing that there may be more weight categories in LA, big demand from US wrestling federation to boost their medal prospects. @randomGuy probably keeps track of wrestling. Javelin 1 Shooting 2-3 Boxing is lottery Baaki sab ka, picture will be clearer by late 27 or 28. Javelin, hockey, weightlifting etc. are form/injury dependent....anyway not all medals are equal IMHO, hockey is probably the toughest event to medal in, brutal format....group stage with at least 4 top teams (medal contenders) in each group, QF, SF and even if you lose SF, no guaranteed medal, have to play bronze medal match. Hope to see some new names emerge from athletics, gymnastics, rowing, badminton, maybe even squash which is making its debut in LA. Really really want us to reach double digits. deepdynamo 1
Gollum Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 (edited) BCCI should target LA men's gold and total 2 medals on war footing, they owe the nation at least that much for all the pampering and special benefits. Treat it no less than WC. Teams like Aus, NZ, GBR, RSA, Jamaica can afford to take it a bit lightly (not that they will !!!!) but we need at least one gold to catapult 30 places up the medal table. Gollum Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 (edited) The guy who won gold today, Walcott (Trinidad and Tobago), was gold medalist in 2012 London, bronze in 2016 Rio. Amazing longevity. Second place Anderson Peters, another West Indian (Grenada), 2x former world champ. Bronze went to an African American. North American sweep Edited September 18, 2025 by Gollum rollingstoned 1
BCCISelector Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Sachin Yadav looks like a solid medal prospect, seeing his progression over the last 2 years.. Consistently throwing 85-86 suggests he has a higher ceiling (88-90 or even more?), which he might reach before LA28. Gollum and rollingstoned 2
Gollum Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Neeraj has been a constant in finals of these big events since 2018. Rest of the field keeps changing, super competitive sport but one man always holds his ground, such consistency at absolutely elite level, and he is still just 27 who made his PB this season !!!!!
Gollum Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Seems like many top javelin players have cricket background, no wonder South Asians are shining. This Walcott guy (gold medalist) too was a cricketer in his younger days. 8/12 finalists today were from Commonwealth countries which have cricket culture. See similar trend in women's competition where former cricketers (even those who have represented their countries like Sunette Viljoen) winning javelin medals. Sachin Yadav too was an aspiring cricketer earlier who shifted to javelin only at the age of 19. From aspiring cricketer to toppling idol Neeraj Chopra: Meet Sachin Yadav, India’s new javelin sensation Anyway watching another Yadav bring glory to India, have to play this banger @Lone Wolf Lone Wolf, Pratik77 and Lord 3
Gollum Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Some of our promising javelin throwers in recent times have been found doping, facing long bans. Hope Sachin is clean. India's Star Javelin Thrower At Tokyo Olympics Fails Dope Test, Stares At 8-Year Ban (Shivpal Singh) Javelin thrower DP Manu handed four-year ban by NADA for failed dope test Neeraj has been vocal about doping problem in Indian athletics. This menace sunk Indian weightlifting for a good 20 years. randomGuy 1
Lord Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Unprofessional language by Brijbhushan's stooge. WFI should be backing wrestlers atleast in public Gollum 1
