What's the point of Gill in T20s???

where was the necessity for the team to ask him to do anything? It wasn’t like the team was struggling to find an opener. The team had an amazing opening pair in Sanju & Abhishek. They axed an inform Sanju, the made Gill the VC & made him to open, because that’s the only position he is comfortable, even though he is bad at it, in this format.

There wasn't any necessity... But they did. No one is going to refuse the opportunity to play for and be VC of a national team. He isn't doing the destroying: GG and agarkar are

Eoin Morgan was at the end of his career unlike Gill who is in his first half of his career.

 

Gill had just one good series as test captain too.It is not like he has wonders there too.Making him captain in any format was the first biggest mistake.

 

Two bozos  (GG and Agarkar) wanted to kickout certain players so they could make dummy captain so they can play their games.This ire should be directed towards those two idiots.

Stats padder Gill and useless SKY are gonna doom us. Gill replaced by Jaiswal or Samson and SKY by Iyer is such an easy solution but we're stuck as Jaiswal and Iyer are not favoured by the powers that be.

 

Even likes of Rinku and Parag are a much better fit and have been let down by selectors and their bias. Every time Gill bats, his stats go down and yet he's still there. I can't comprehend what do the selectors expect from him? Imagine a high stakes match in WT20 - say a SF against Aus or a final against Eng or NZ. Does anyone think "Prince" Gill or SKY is gonna take us home? They will be the first ones to bail out leaving India in a deep hole.

 

We're way too dependent on Abhishek and we're back to a 160-180 scoring team with 2 under-performers in the top 4. No team can carry two passengers in the top 4. We've reverted to the T20 team we had from 2019-2022. All the progress made has been lost and I can't see India winning the WT20 when they would be the overwhelming favourites if players and team is selected on merit.

SKY plays only one format he like Gill is stinking for long time. Would you complain to SKY why are you still the captain of t20 team.Blame should be assigned to Selectors and Coaches.Neither Gill nor SKY have any body of work to say okay they are just going thru bad phase.

 

Was there any need to make Gill captain and VC in any whiteball format.We don't even know if he is a world class batsman.

Corruption is so disheartening,we took unbeatable team and turned it into a very beatable team ,Samson scored 3 100s in 10 games and Gill is averaging 24 with no 50 since he came back,the hypocrisy is so sad.

That's the bane of being an Indian Cricket Fan instead of being a fan of an individual player like majority of Indian fans. Sometimes I wish I could be just like an average Indian fan and be happy with my player scoring runs and not caring about how the team does. In a way like putrevus where I jump around when Kohli scores and don't give a shyte whether India wins or loses.

 

It's even worse when you know that thre're players and bench strength who can make the team much stronger and win the next WT20 but we won't do that as the team management, selectors and BCCI care more about making Gill an all-format star than win tourneys

They gradually built these fanbases through social media. They are doing it again. Imaginary fan base. Apart from bot accounts that promote these players nobody else is favor of Sanju's exclusion.

Yup. I'm not a big fans of Samson but even he's a huge upgrade over Gill. Plus he allows Rinku or Parag to be selected in the middle order ahead of Jitesh. Or pick Jaiswal in place of Gill and you get a huge upgrade top of the order and you no longer need to rely only on Abhishek for a fast start.

28 off 28 in a T20 is an extremely poor innings by any metric. And he barely escaped a duck, there was edges through the slips and escaped plenty of times. And despite all that luck he barely managed 28 off 28!

 

If we're celebrating 28 off 28 as good innings we may as well select any random batter and you'll get similar performances of an average in 20s and a SR around 120 which is what we're getting with Gill. These are Mandeep like stats and it's a slap in the face of actual performers like Jaiswal, Rinku, Parag, Samson etc. who have done everything right but are still sidelined despite doing everything right.

 

This fascination and obsession with Gill and SKY is killing the team. The team was all set just a few months ago and we derailed everything to force Gill in the team.

This is exactly the plans are or how things work for Ind super stars/Stars . During the match Ind commentators hype up a player. even their run of the mill and decentish performances are hype, then these some known sm media account takes up and then pr/fanbase joins in.

 

This is a pattern , nothing new 

 

They are just waiting gill to perform a bit and everything flood gates will be opened.

And in PC they will have some reporters will be buttering them and if some other player come1 , they would ask how good was gill, how its like seeing him bat.

 

 

Thiis is the same rinse repeat thing keeps happening. Casual fan falls into this.

 

It took years and years fr Ind fan to realize that these players have huge pr and the sm hyping them are not real or organic support.

I am happy..Gill got out at 28..I was concerned..he may go on to make safe 50..and keep stat padding..hopefully this will counted as yet another failure..

The ironic thing is Samson was dropped because of his supposed  inability to play high pace(somewhat true)

 

But then they replaced him with a guy who can't do jack against 140+ , can't hit spin consistently and does not have a secondary skill(wicketkeeping or bowling ) and named him vice captain

Samson was replaced just to accomodate Gill. Tried Samson in middle order and eventually turned to Jitesh

I was concerned when he was given out on 0. The commentators would have called it another unlucky outing and that you cannot decide in one ball whether someone is in good form or not. He at least batted 28 balls to show how crappy he is in this format
