What should the squad for T20 world cup be?

Now that Asia cup is done and dusted, we have ~6 months to go for for important T20 tournaments like T20 WC.

 

What changes should be done to squad? What are chinks in the squad?

 

For a start,

 

1. Gill doesn't belong in the T20 squad. High time Jaiswal replaced him.

2. SKY's form is a big concern. He doesn't warrant a place with this performance. He should ideally be dropped for Iyer, but it won't happen 

3. Even if SKY plays, he should bat at 4 while Samson should bat 3.

 

Anything else? What about bowling? Is 1 pacer a sustainable approach?

How can Rinku fit in the XI?

They should elongate batting by playing only one specialist spinner,Rinku ,Abhi,Tilak all can bowl

Two pacers are necessary

Sorry but Jaiswal is a must in T20. Dare I say he is even better than Abhishek against quality bowling and can be equally destructive.

Unfortunate that Jaiswal misses out. I think the decision to take is whether Jaiswal at the top adds more value than Rinku at 6, and the answer is probably no. 

 

Also, unfortunately, Iyer won't make the cut till SKY is there.

If SKY plays, he has to bat at 4, so the rest of the line up remains unchanged.

Maybe but there's no pressing need for him. Arya is also good. Samson also did well at top scoring tons in SA

 

Need to get out of this individual mindset. There is no need to play guys in all formats without our resource pool.

Priyansh Arya is still not refined. It took Tilak a while to get to this level. Still Raw. He can play first against weaker sides in bilaterals. Same goes for Suryavanshi and other talents. You can’t drop your best all format opener in a World Cup.

5 at home against RSA in Dec

5 at home against NZ in Jan

 

Can't ask for better preparation for WC. Not only will we become battle-hardened, nowhere to hide for our players, will make selection easy.

Too soon for Sooryavanshi don't you think? 

He will be a mainstay in T20 in a couple of years. 

 

For now, I think we have enough firepower at the top. Someone like Rinku at 6 adds more value than Sooryavanshi at the top

the 5 games against the aussies coming up will decide Gill and SKYs future,I don't rate Gill in T20s but aussie pitches will suit him  better.
