Only the keeper position remains the potential decider. 

Not convinced with Samson. Pant is probably someone who's better suited for the longer formats though. I think we should be giving other players the chances in the remaining T20 matches before deciding on who's the keeper. High time we ditch Sky for Iyer as his individual performances of late haven't warranted him getting selected for the team. But i suppose the rest of the matches will be a litmus test for Sky. If he scores big against SENA opposition, he will get to keep his place as the captain. Iyer repeatedly wanting time off isn't going to endear himself to the selectors as well. 

Who we choose as the keeper will ultimately define on whether Jaiswal or Rinku are selected.

Pandya / Dube (Have my doubts on whether Pandya is going to be fit enough the entire tournament)

Reasonable batting lineup with batting upto Axar. 5 bowlers with Tilak probably getting a couple of overs in as well at some point. 

We can look at the bench strength having
1. Kuldeep (Horses for Courses) especially if deciding to go with only 1 pacer + 1 pace bowling AR instead of 2 + 1
2. Jitesh / Any other WK (Ideally they get more matches in the lead up to the WT20 so that they give some serious competition to Samson)
3. Nitish (A batting allrounder who can come in handy). Better bowler than Tilak even if not as good a batsman so far.
4. Washington (An experienced spinner who knows the conditions and is a decent batsman even if a tad slow for T20's)
5. Jaiswal. The other toss up. It's between him and Rinku. He's got to open if he comes in and that would mean leaving Rinku out. I don't see the selectors taking Gill out of the team.

Unlikely yes, so is Iyer and Jaiswal:-)

 

but Jitesh is better option than Samson in lower middle order. He could do a good job as finisher, should have been tried in Asia cup 

 

Yeah Rinku maybe just misses out, It's not like for like as Parag is middle order bat and Rinku is lower middle order I guess...but Parag can bowl too

Current weak links - 

1. SKY's Form  -So need a back up plan in his place. But should be in X1 if gets back to form.

2. Samson - Again not very good show esp against express pace and vs quality spin. (why not Jaiswal in his place ?. Much solid than Samson). 

3. Gill - His job is to see we do not end up 3 wickets down in PP as happened in Asia cup final . It was stupid when he got out as 3rd player within PP in a final. jaiswal need to come either in place of Gill or Samson. 

4. Dubey - Not convinced - selected on spin bashing ability. Sadly NK reddy's form dipped . I feel if in good form,reddy can bash spinners as well as Dubey plus a much better bat vs pace and if Hardik is playing then will go for Riyan Parag.

5. No 2nd death bowler -We are using spinners towards death. This may backfire if bowling 2nd with heavy due in FEB /March , else looks OK with Kuldeep(17th over) , Bhumrah  (18th Over & 20th ) & Varun ( 19th) .  If we go  for Arshdeep,we have to shorten batting to 7th . That is the dilemma .  

 

If we find answers to these weak spots in next 10-12 matches , we will have a very good team.

Iyer as compared to Dube is a solid batter and a reliable spin basher..esp in Indian conditions..

however Dube is probably also a cover for ever injury prone Pandya..

but again I dont want to be in a situation like Asia Cup final where Dube was opening bowling…SENA batters wont respect him like Pak..

Unfortunately..Kuldeep may have to make way for Arshdeep..as he can pickup wkts upfront whereas Boom is just doing containing job nowadays plus yorkers at the death to bowl in pair with Boom

..and Sundar will need to be given more responsibility with the ball..

 

Ideally I wanted someone like Riyan Parag to work on consistent bowling and be confident with his variations..that is going to make us formiddable..give us more wkt taking opportunity in the middle

More or less the team picks itself. Unless Jitesh Sharma seals a spot in the next series vs SA, I'd expect Pant to be in that final squad as well.
