Partly at least because Samson is a top order bat and we are well stocked there. Jurel can bat at five or six where we need more options.

Samson did score a ton in SA but I Would suggest Jurel "feels" like a better ODI bat, someone who can bat through the middle overs well.

Okay why are they forcing Sanju toplay at 5 sometimes 7 in T20? The messaging is not consistent. It si all over. It is almost like they picked the sid e theywanted then they create justification.

Overall quite poor selections

Bumrah skipped that but playing this useless WI series

Sundar will be another Jadeja. Its better to back Parag and Rinku.

Harshit has become all format bencher :hysterical:

Yeah that is idiotic lol

Jitesh should be in instead, at 7 or 8

Jaiswal should be opening

Gill should be nowhere near T20is

Reporters should ask direct questions like "How did Gill jump ahead of Jaiswal in T20Is?". Legit question. "Why is the successful Samon/Abhishek partnership separated?"

Why is everyone so anti Gill ? first it was why is he in test then why is he captain then they in t20 now why is he ODI captain ? give him space give him time. question after a year.

I don't think anyone is against Gill in getting appointed as ODI captain. Most Rohit fans are against this. But his entry into T20 has diluted its strength.

I disagree. Go through thread after gill was announced test captain but before start of England series.

Parag had an average to below par IPL2025 ,

Loi selections ,good or bad,you have to accept it is based on IPL performances these days

A 450-500+ runs next IPL will surely leapfrog him into the loi side ,still should have made into the side instead of Sundar

Gill as captain in ODIs is still fine. But in T20Is, we are making sure to have a repeat of Nov 19 next year, by handicapping ourselves. Self imposed weaknesses which we can't afford against top sides in KOs, especially Aus and our perennial nemesis, NZ.

Biggest hole is the lack of a Paceman who can bat. There is probably going to be Harshit at 8, he isn't good enough

Yudhvir seems to have struggled for A team and Gurnoor not got a chance yet

Assuming likely 11 is

Rohit

Gill

Kohli

Shreyas

KL

NKR

Axar

Harshit

Kuldeep

Arshdeep

Siraj

India always goes at full strength against Aussies in bilaterals. Don't see us take it so seriously even against RSA, NZ, Eng in bilaterals, but against Aussies our intensity goes up a notch. Watch Aussies rest Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc, Green and a couple of their batsmen this series, this is too cheap an assignment for them....Ashes will get all the attention and prep. But come WC time, they will show who they are.

Cummins or Starc may play an ODI or 2 before Ashes.  They did the same vs Pakistan last year before BGT.  ODI series would be pretty competitive.  Even their rag tag ODI unit nearly had us in The CT Semi final.

T20s I reckon only Hazelwood will play a couple of games like he is doing in NZ.

Starc retired from T20s. Cummins seems doubtful even for 1st Ashes test. Hazelwood will play

Those are good replacements. Before someone says Tilak is no Kohli. No he is not. That is the good thing. INdia doesn't need to depend on one player anymore. It is always bad if you depend on one individual a lot more.

These replacements are left handers plus Tilak can bowl. Both in early 20s

They don't even want to pick iyer in playing XI. That strained relationship with Gauti will continue hurting Iyer. Remember Iyer saying that he would not have played but for Kohli's injury in CT.

Iyer is the Vice Captain.
