We pulled off a heist at Kensington oval.  Now we meet again.  Both team have flaws. India needs to learn from the mistakes we committed against them in the league phase.I think India needs one change.

We have no choice but to sitck with Shafali.  Yastika is an uber tuk tuk player. Other than that you just have Uma chetry wicket keeper batter. 

 

Arudnathi Reddy is the only one seamer besides what we already have. She went for 86 in 8.5 overs against Australia in her last game. So they have to stick with Kranti Goud.

As far as match up goes , Shafali should be wary marizanne kapp upfront  as she brings the ball back in. Last year  Shafali varma and Smriti Mandhana added 292 for first wicket in the one off test against South Africa. Shafali scored 205 in 288 balls smashing 23 fours and 8 sixes.  Shafali should spend some time. This bowling can be targeted if she spends time at the crease

South africa barely managed to chase 252 and it was on a blitzkrieg by their all rounder. We didn't particularly play that well that day. I think we will do better Sunday

I will not discount South Africa.  Few years ago with Kolpak, Quota system, all the other political garbage I thought their cricket was over. however, they reached World Cup semis when more favored teams like England and even one of the subcontinent teams- Pak, England, SL, Afghan, Bangladesh failed to qualify in similar home conditons. Wasn’t a fluke either. They played dominant cricket and almost pulled off the semis as well.

 

they reached world t20 final and almost won that as well. In fact should have won it. They are also WTC champions and played some clutch cricket in the match too.

They  are taking one additional step across the board. Last 2 semis lost to England.  Now they put them away.

Watched the press confrence and few interviews. I am worried. Players are emotionally drained don't know if they mentally there to win final.

What it showed, is that on the contrary, if you force diversity in the team, the team does get better.

 

Earlier they were a strong team, but very one dimensional with only one kind of mental strength, bringing a variety of players from different backgrounds also added to their mental strength and changed their thinking.

 

The lesson you should learn, is that sometimes giving underprivileged people a boost, is not quota nonsense. It's necessary to bring society to equality and benefits a country in the long run, if done right.

 

Doing something to address equality, even if the methods can be flawed, is always better than doing nothing or crying about those who try to do something. Priveleged people crying about attempts at equality or calling it quota nonsense doesn't make it so.

My worry is about Jemima's recovery. Jemima was the best fielder for India by some distance. Saved a lot of runs. Effected run out. After being active on the field for 50 overs, she came to the crease in the 2nd over and left the field in the 49th over.  SO that is a total of 98 overs on the ground with just a short innings break.

RSA women reached the final of last two T20 WCs, SF before that. 

 

SFists in 2017 and 22 ODI WCs, finalists here.

 

They have improved so much in recent years, historically it was just Aus, Eng, NZ show, with occasional Ind/WI sparks.....but RSA has spiced up the field, making women's cricket so much more competitive.  

 

Graeme Smith in his admin role, has done something remarkable in his usual unnoticed, yet underrated manner. Many of us thought RSA cricket was in a crisis 5 years back, but now both their men and women are making consistent, deep runs in all formats, and look good for the long run. Their black and Indian origin players have also improved by leaps and bounds and make the team on merit these days, talks of quota/reservation picks have also died down if you compare present situation to that 10 years back.

Also they can be nervous wrecks. Aussies even on their worst days will force you to bring your A+ game, but RSA can simply collapse. 

 

Though RSA beat us in the group stage, we are a better team, more well-rounded. Only thing I am worried about is the emotional impact of yesterday's match. In 2007 WT20 we played out of our skins in the Durban SF to knock Aus out, and played a very low quality game in the final, same in 2011 WC where we followed a high level play in Motera with low quality garbage in Mohali...think back to 2000 mini WC as well. RSA women can overcome our B game.
