The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday announced the squad for India’s upcoming Test series against South Africa.

Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (WK) (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep.

Mhatre is playing U19 series like he should against Afg u19.

He ain't ready for top level yet.

Good A squad. Ruturaj is out of form? 500+ runs in 4 FC matches in the current season isn't exactly being out of form. 

 

Not sure what are the plans of Rohit and Kohli before SA ODIs. Likely will sit at home for one month and then score in dead rubbers. Could have played at least one match vs SA A or a Ranji trophy match. Other plan could be to produce total pattas where 375-400 runs could be scored easily. Maximizes chances of Ro-Ko 100s

Hasnt scored enough to be called for A side?

They will certainly not let him vanish from their sight ,maybe they see him enough qualified to feature in odi and test squads(in some conditions)

Completely on expected lines. Not one surprise in the squad.

 

They discarded Nair, but never understood why Padikkal and not Sarfaraz. If someone brings up, dressing room leaks again, I'm going to request a ban on them

Yea padikkal doesn't have a massive ceiling. So it is not hard for karun to be more useful.than paddikal.

Watched Ashwin show  where one indian e press reporter told shami went back kntondressing room after first spell
