Eng is on a 0-16 run in last 18 tests in Aus. The 2010-11 Ashes was an outlier.

 

Poms have won 6 tests in the last 40 years in Aus, total some 55 tests played, lost 40 of them. India has won 7 tests in Aus since 2003, and lost 14. 8 draws. 

 

No wonder losers from these two countries try their best to undermine our BGT triumphs. 

I just checked before the 2010-11 series since Bodyline England have won in Aus just 5 times - 1 of those was the Packer affected series which does not mean much in 1978.

 

So here are the series's won by England in Aus with comments

 

1932-33   (4-1 England) Bodyline series .... Harold Larwood fame.

1954-55   (3-1 England) - Frank "Typhoon" Tyson fame

1970-71    (2-0 England) - John Snow/Geoff Boycott stars

1978         (5-1 England) Packer affected Most Aus players playing WSC unlike England.

1986-87   (2-1 England)  Ian Botham/Gladstone Small

2010-11     (3-1 England)

Bumrah definitely owns, 11 wickets @ 30. But Rabada got him out only 4 times at 50 runs per wicket

Never mind Botham, I am not sure Stokes is much better than Flintoff - esp the Flintoff of 2005 Ashes series.

Flintoff played a big part in their 2006 series draw in India. Stokes OTOH is a liability anywhere in Asia.

Botham declined after 1981. I saw him at the Jubilee test in 1980 and then a year and half later in 1981 with Keith Fletcher's team at Wankhede and I thought he had declined a lot.

Reminds me of a Dennis Amiss - he averaged well against NZ and WI with a 203 in the match that Holding got his 14 wickets in 1976.

 

Amiss's overall average was 45 or 46 odd.

 

Problem was Amiss averaged 15 odd versus Australia and that is all she wrote about Dennis Amiss.
