This was after Lord's defeat. RSA took the humiliation one level further when we couldn't chase 120 at home.

 

Aussies have 2 150+ chases in this series alone. Eng chased 180 in the previous test on a pitch which produced just 5 sessions of action. 

 

What other teams manage in one series, we can't in a decade and a half?

Lot of turn on this pitch yesterday and today, though neither teams opted for frontline spinner. Anyway, Webster/Jacks/Root are more than enough to bundle us under 150 on this pitch. Heck pacers would do the damage. Our woes are entirely psychological.

Anyway 4-1 is a deserved victory. Shot themselves in the foot with the deck they opted for in MCG, 5-0 was there for the taking. Another comprehensive Ashes win, kudos. Aus vs RSA repeat final in Lord's 2027 is a almost inevitable now, unless Ind/NZ do something truly extraordinary/historic. Eng surely out of the race, disgraceful.

Gilchrist had just 11 losses in his entire career, most of them against India. 73 wins, 12 draws.
