It's not pronounced the way you're reading It's like Ka"dha"gam....just like Kozhikode is pronounced as Ko"dhi"kode. But even that "d" sound is different than in Hindi or Marathi....it's a mix of "da" with "jha" Mariyam 1

There is no d there , more like L as in Marathi, but not quite the same. You have to put the tongue on the top of the mouth and get a sound between L and R. Mariyam, velu and singhvivek141 2 1

Yeah, for North Indians, as that word don't exist...we rely more on what we hear. Like Kozhikode, my malyali friend speak in a wali that it sounds like "kodhikod", it may be different.
