New guy Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 I am surprised broadcasters have not raised this issue of matches lasting just 2 and a half day after they bid so much for test matches.

Plenty of runs on offer (Jaiswal 700+) but also enough help to bowlers, both pacers and spinners. Pitches in Eng were a bit too flat, and no help for spin even on day 5. England never had help for spinners. Nothing new this time too. They were good pitches. Good bowling got wickets. 4/5 tests had results. We have become used to 3-4 days matches and too much help for bowlers so those pitches felt ultra flat to us which is not the case. Pitches had help for fast bowlers. Seam, swing, variable bounce, just not highly exaggerated as it was a drier summer in England.
Suhaan Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Need confident batters not low confidence batters ,which these pitches are doing for us

Gollum Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Pacers have also done a lot of damage here, just saying. Bumrah, Siraj (except day 1 first spell), Jansen all have looked unplayable.
Number Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 I have lost interest in test cricket in India due to this reason.

This has been happening since at least Dhongi's reign from 2012 ENG tour, although Oz 2013 tour had worse pitches! The reason why ICF cabal is in arms is because we're losing now, back then we weren't We gave loads of substandard or downright ugly pitches to S. E. N. A. Last decade or so, but oh noes no one *ing cared back then! rkt.india and Number 2

They know any substandard wicket to wicket spinner can do well on pitches like these. Edited November 16, 2025 by rkt.india

All tests lasted five days, 4 had results, one had heard fought draw. They weren't bad pitches. You don't want matches ending in 3-4 days. People have become so used to 3 day tests that test lasting five days are being called bad pitches now. I understand your sentiment. IMHO it was useless bowling plus from both sides for majority of the series . We saw if pitches had some life how good those batsmen were in the same series. Other than Root and may be Pant they were not any great batsman on either side. Brook is slasher who got away with so chances.Reason for rest of them scoring bucketful of runs were pitches and bowling. Jaddu and Stokes are very good all rounders so they would have scored some runs on any wickets. Guy like Rahul scoring 500 runs should say it all about bowling plus pitches. Gollum Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 We are unable to chase 120+ totals on any pitch. We have always been a garbage 4th innings side, can't blame pitches for mental midgetry. RSA would have chased 120 easily here, they level up in runchases. Even in the 2000 series, they chased 170 on a very tough pitch in Mumbai, against peak Kumble...Kallis was amazing in that chase. putrevus 1

Do you think those pitches were like this one. New ball was biting of the pitches there. Guy like Sundar or Bavuma stayed on crease for so long on this wicket, Rohit would have done more than okay here. Edited November 16, 2025 by putrevus
