BCCI needs to stop preparing third class pitches

And please talk about greentops or seamer friendly pitches.

There is enough examples to show greentops have chances to become good batting tracks on day 3 and 4 or pitch with moisture becoming batting track once it dries up or swing which has nothing to do with pitch. Those pitches are also at times good for stroke play, so attacking batsmen can still play blinders.

Uneven bounce, dry dustbowl become worse as time progresses and present ugly viewing. Matches are boring and hardly bring any good memories.

Have been writing about bad pitches in India for a long time. And advocated for relatively sporting pitches.

Good to see that many Ashwin and Jadeja fans now realizing the folly of such pitches.

No wonder Indian test matches are boring, dull and hardly close matches. Last England series was good when pitches were good.

Close matches happen when teams are equal. They don't need to play on these wickets but please no thanks to pitches like England series. They were played on some of the flattest decks where even ordinary batsmen were filling their boots.

India had very good pitches for Indian conditions for most matches from say 2009 to 2019. They then started playing on these uneven bunsen burners .

They have ruined Indian batsmen.

Best pitches were the england tour of India. Every pitch was good. England fought well. Duckett scored tons, root played well. bashir bowled well .. bumrah was outstanding.. stokes was amazing first few tests.. all in all a great series. Could have easily been 3-2 if jurel didnt play that mammoth innings..

You can have high scoring turners like Chennai 2013, Mumbai 2016, Indore 2016. All those games saw individual 200s, muliple 100s. What they all had was consistent, predictable, good bounce. Here, uneven bounce has caused havoc, and also made pacers dangerous.

Even the same team, RSA in 2019. Great pitches. Rohit, Mayank, Kohli all scored 200s I think. Umesh, Shami, spinners all were among wickets.

Here HS is 39 by KL, only one other batsman has crossed the 30 mark.

2019 series were excellent pitches. They had something for everyone.

Peak Kohli era (before pandemic) had the best pitches in our test history. No wonder a world class pace unit emerged, guys like Kohli and Pujara averaged in 60s at home, and very few draws.

Kohli was brave enough to go for a greentop against NZ (Boult,Henry, Southee, Wagner) in 2016 Kolkata, that was his aura and confidence in his quicks, even Bhuvi.

2016-17 home season was the peak of test cricket in India, 3 tests vs NZ, 5 vs Eng, 4 vs Aus, all played before jam packed crowds who always matched Kohli's energy. He revived test cricket in India. Pandemic ruined everything.

Kohli's passion to play every match hard was the main reason why I liked him, he played hard every day  plus he gave everything he had to lift test cricket.Win or lose he was 100 percent.

He revived Shami, Ishant and Umesh. They were left to die under Dhoni. He was the engine behind the pace bowling renaissance.

No Indian captain comes close for what he did for Indian cricket. We saw fittest Indian team and that was due to him.

Unlike this idiot Gambhir who spews jingoistic nonsense and nothing else.

England pitches were good test pitches. All tests lasted five days, 4 had results, one had heard fought draw. They weren't bad pitches. You don't want matches ending in 3-4 days. People have become so used to 3 day tests that test lasting five days are being called bad pitches now.

Ind vs Eng in Ind last year had better pitches. Plenty of runs on offer (Jaiswal 700+) but also enough help to bowlers, both pacers and spinners. Pitches in Eng were a bit too flat, and no help for spin even on day 5.

If losing this series 0-2 finally changes things, so be it. So sick and tired of these disgraceful pitches! And laying out such tracks isn't a guarantee for a win either, as evidenced by the sound thrashing at the hands of NZ not long ago!

Ultimately it was the extreme passion which made him burn out faster than expected. Root, Smith never overspent their mental/emotional reserves like Kohli.

The energy Kohli brought as captain is unique in test history. Opponent 250/3, India looking listless, and he would pump up his team mates, involve the crowd, bring us right back into the game in one session.
