Eden Gardens pitch Vs Perth pitch

Really surprises me the number of nonsensical comments even from ex cricketers about how "if 19 wickets had fallen in India there would have been outcry" or "out cry over all those wickets falling in India but not the same criticism of Perth"

Whilst I agree there is that hypocrisy, that is not hold true about the pitches this week The very simple reason is Indian pitches get progressively much worse. Perth got better

Eden gardens was showing uneven bounce from literally ball two and three. That is a terrible test match pitch.

Perth was fast but true. Combination of poor batting and good fast bowling attacks.

What happened in England’s 2nd innings was entirely self imposed. That wicket was quite good to bat day 2 - just faster probably.
Right. The arguments r in fact non sensical.

Disagree, poor batting from India made Kolkatta pitch look worse than it was, Bumrah could take wickets, spinners could take wickets.

India had no batsmen, all bits and pieces players who could not even rotate strike.Blaming pitch was ridiculous.

Bavuma could score runs and looked fairly comfortable.Axar scored runs fairly easy there only if we had batsman who could atleast rotate strike India would have won that match in canter.

You play useless bits an pieces players that will happen even on flattest wickets.

india dont help matters by playing tests in 30 different venues. you have to big up your select venues first if you want others to

Of 20 SA wickets, 10 wickets were taken by Bumrah and Siraj.

Jansen himself picked 5 wickets. So Kolkata pitch was just fine for  fast bowlers.

Problem was team selection not pitch.

Variable bounce pitches help both pacers and spinners. What does Bumrah and Siraj picking up wickets prove?

Kolkata wasn't a rank turner. It was a crazy up and down pitch like some of the WI ones from 90s.

32 wickets in 2 days but pitch is fine lol

Yes its true, but imagine India chasing 200 in place of Aus ,I'm pretty sure we would have lost that too with our confidence with chases offlate specially

Jansen also picked up wickets, new ball was swinging .

if batsman can only score runs on flat pitches then they better sit at home.

You keep playing bits and pieces players as batsmen that will happen, you are seeing the other end of it in the second test. India has six bowling options yet bowling looks innocuous.

Let us see what those bits and pieces players  do with bat.

Batsmen can play swing, seam, turn, but there isn't much they can do for variable bounce.

Of course team selection is horrible by Gambhir. There are hardly any batting in this side.

That is the problem, you remove bits and pieces players and add couple of decent batsmen India was winning the match with ease.

India has six bowlers and how are they looking in second test.

How does winning or losing make pitch any better?

Batsmen gets one ball to get out that's why minefields are called. Batsmen barely have chance. Kolkata pitch was a minefield.
