jf1gp_1 Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Fans, pandits, journos all need to remain consistent. As soon as we start winning in odis or t20 all will start we can field 2 teams bullshit and this series will be forgotten tapandrun, rtmohanlal and Lord 1 1 1
Lord Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Remove both GG and Agarkar Select players on basis of Ranjis and give them a decent run at one position
Austin 3:!6 Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Bring back King and make him the captain again, at least for the remainder of this WTC Cycle.
AshVin Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 1) Pick specialist batters and bowlers - All-rounder should be limited to 1 - Pace or Spin all-rounder depends on conditions. 2) Pick players that are suited to Test format with sole criteria being Ranji Trophy and not IPL. 3) Stop preparing rank turners which make a match into lottery. If you do 1 and 2, you'll have enough confidence to win on typical Indian wickets and you won't have to doctor pitches. tapandrun, rtmohanlal and Lord 1 2
Prabhdeep Singh Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 (edited) Rohit should cancel test retirement, much fitter now, playing Odis until 2027 WC might as well play tests until 2027 wtc cycle to stay in rhythm. 7/9 games remaining will be in Asia, who knows India might qualify for 2027 WTC final. Jaiswal Rohit Tilak Gill (C) Pant (WK) Sarfaraz/Rinku R Jadeja Shreyas Gopal K Yadav/Arshdeep/Akashdeep/Prasidh/Rana Bumrah Siraj/Shami Tilak, Sarfaraz and Rinku all average well over 50 in 1st class cricket. Much better prospects than Sai and Paddikal. Not sure what more you need to see from KL. Edited November 26, 2025 by Prabhdeep Singh

We pick on IPL and then chop and change

We pick on IPL and then chop and change Discarding Nair in favour of Sai was a wrong move in hindsight. Domestic veterans batsman like Nair, Gaikwad, Rinku or even Mayank would have done much better on home pitches simple because they know how to churn out runs after runs on these kind of pitches. Sai, Nitish and maybe Jurel bypassed the Ranji and got picked straight in XI. Lord 1
deepdynamo Posted November 27, 2025 Author Posted November 27, 2025 Next Test series is 8 months away in SL, turning pitches again. Jaiswal KL No.3 Gill Pant No.6 Jadeja Washington Spinner Kuldeep Bumrah/Siraj Three spots needs to be fixed. Bring in experienced domestic batter of spin at No. 3- Karun Nair, Gaikwad or maybe even Tilak. Bring in experinced domestic batsman at No. 6 - Rinku or somebody else but a genuine batsman Bring in a new specialist spinner to compliment Kuldeep- Maybe Harsh Dubey

Washington and Jadeja are not frontline spinners anymore. Ideally only one of Jadeja and Washington should play but ironically both are our most secure batsman. Lord and Sooda 2
Sooda Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 Need to fix domestic pitches so they aren't green top with low bounce which helps no one: batsmen can't play spin or high pace, bowlers don't learn reverse, no good pacemen coming through diga 1
goose Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 make playing for the india test team more lucrative than an ipl contract diga and nevada 2
lemsip Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 1 hour ago, goose said: make playing for the india test team more lucrative than an ipl contract Not feasible. The Indian public that keeps the circus on the road wants to watch the T20 jamboree above all else. There isn't much demand for tests and the format doesn't have enough competitive teams to make it an attractive product. There is a reason why this was a 2 test series versus the world champions followed by 3 ODIs and 5 T20s. Tests in india will have to be subsidised by the white ball formats as they currently are. Only if the product is worth watching will the dynamics improve. Unlike England and Australia where there is a large, reliable support base for test cricket, India runs on white ball cricket in general and T20 specifically. In some ways the trajectory of the team is not altogether surprising. deepdynamo 1

lemsip Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 24 minutes ago, goose said: the end destruction of the test format is a wilful choice not some unstoppable human condition Not really. The free market is delivering its verdict. Given a choice people in India prefer white ball games to get their cricketing fix. There is a reason why this 2 test premium series is bookended by 16 white ball games in Australia and India. The Indian team performing poorly in one sided contests will also decrease patronage of tests further.
