Pakistan-born star pacer among 4 from US national team to be denied Indian visa ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

Hope this is sorted out soon. Many of these associate teams have multiple Pak origin players. Hope their squad strengths aren't compromised. USA at full strength can eliminate Pak from group stage once again like '24 edition.  

 

For a country that dreams of hosting multi-nation events inlcuding Olympics, this isn't a good look. ICC events go on so smoothly in other countries. Once you get hosting rights for mega tournaments, everything should be more professional. 

 

Even tickets aren't being properly released, BCCI *ing up as usual, no improvement from their 23 WC mismanagement.

Is it denid or taking time like they did for other pak origin players. Usman, Basir etc? I doubt they can deny visa to USA citizen regardless of where they are born

Not related to cricket, but stuffs like these are a bigger concern if this country wants to host global events like Olympics or world Championships of any global sport.

Yeah saw that. 

 

Also in the recent Kolkata rapid/blitz event, power went off twice, and played a big part in deciding the results because as such games are so short. This sort of incompetence is commonplace in India. Even Carlsen who visted last year had lot of praise for Indian fans and chess community but called the event chaotic, disorganized and messy. There was also a stampede like situation after one of the days and Carlsen's wife (GF then) was actually crying out there. 

 

 

 

Couldn't even watch the event on video because of the cringe. Each day 4-5 times the players, arbiters had to shush the crowd. Common etiquette in chess tourneys for fans to be silent during live games, like in library. But Indians and our civic sense !!!! Was getting second hand embarassment, even in events in Africa (Ivory Coast, Morocco recently), crowds are so well behaved. Only Chennai/TN deserves to host chess events in India.

But why put teams through this before a WC? So much uncertainty, tension. Associate teams only have these T20 WCs once in 2 years to showcase their skills before a global audience, and these morons still want to put them at a disadvantage. WC starts in 3 weeks time.

This hyper nationalism, and trying to act as the Big Boss is going to hurt India and Indian sports where the sun doesnt shine. In the long run! Everything is a mess, and sooner than later, the whole world will start calling out India.

When the leader of the country approves something like this you see where they are heading. They just try to do these pseudo wars in cricket and try to project as actual war against them.

Jahaan patriotism dikhana tha, wahaan ghutne tek diye. We should have boycotted the Asia Cup but lure of money was too much for our banias. Then the handshake drama, visa drama etc. which has only made us a laughing stock. 

 

Even the Mustafizur saga was handled so poorly. Could have soft banned BD players in the auction, but no, we had to create more drama for political reasons. At the end of it, we come across as the bad and petty guys, and our neighbors get all the sympathy. Since May, India has been unable to win one narrative/PR war, L after L and even these Rokibuls are pissing all over us.

Seriously man. First of all, these ICC events every year has taken all the value out of world cups. On top of that with just 3 weeks left, no news of tickets, BD team reluctant, visa issues for USA players. Pathetic.

 

Cant wait for WC 2027. Atleast we know if will be great spectacle considering it will be in SA.

Current BCCI adminstration is so weak.  First Asia cup blunder now BCB showing eye and all these drama.

In every stunt we pulled recently we looked like the bad guys. Could have been handled more intelligently without any drama. Already narrative is being built INdia should not host any event.

It looked worse even more because he did offer handshake earlier. After the social media backlash they created an elaborate drama which only made the matter worse. Why are they reacting to these fake bots. There are services which will create 10000 bots to create trend. How dumb are these guys not to understand this. They do even for reality shows like biggboss where each contestant set up these bot accounts before entering the contest. Then they spam the social media.

I feel like this issue should have been dealt with by the Indian government and BCCI prior to the World Cup. If certain players do not get their visas on time (or do not get their visas at all), people will end up blaming the BCCI/ICC for interfering with team selection — and honestly, rightfully so. You can’t hold a World Cup with this many obstacles. This last min habit needs to stop from BCCI ...
