He is not immune of scrutiny, he was dropped from the white-balls plans after t20 wc ,then they moved on to Kuldeep+Chahal. They v.well knew that both can not bat and are poor fielders and that blew in their pace in the Odi wc. Then they dropped kuldeep and brought back Jadeja for batting + fielding, then they realised that chahal is not that good in no combination he can make to ICC event playing playing 11 and playing with chahal is like playing with 10 players vs major team. They are doing it again by adding sundar to white-ball side, if jadeja is not good enough , if ashwin was not good enough how is sundar is good ...???? Suhaan and cricspirit 2
cricspirit Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Let alone being dropped, why did they pick him in the first place. Jadeja should be test cricket and IPL only. Also get rid of Sundar. Another test cricketer. tapandrun 1
The Realist Posted January 15 Posted January 15 2026 and Jadeja still being selected. He's gonna be 38 this year FFS. Is there such a lack of new talent or are the selectors brain dead? nevada 1

They want to spend/manage limited number of players, that's proved They want 80-85% of same players in all formats to spend less and also convenience(in lieu of losing main events) haramkhor, chindichor board Edited January 15 by Suhaan
Gollum Posted January 15 Posted January 15 (edited) I still remember that ODI in Hyderabad against Aussies (2009 IIRC), where Sachin scored 175. Jadeja's **** batting ruined that ATG knock, where we couldn't chase down run a ball in the final few overs. Then the T20 WC game (must win) against Poms in 2009 where he was promoted ahead of Yuvi and scored 25(35)...we couldn't even chase down 150 because of him. Such a bizarre, infuriating innings and just like that, defending champs knocked out. 2010 WT20, Watson and Warner combined to hit him for 6 consecutive 6s. If a ghonchu like him still finds a permanent place in our white ball teams in 2026, Indian cricket is a big joke. He is batting at #6 whil other teams will have Carey, Phillips, Brevis, Buttler at that important position. And when was the last time he picked a wicket in any white ball match? Zero threat, opponents can milk him at 7-8 rpo with no risk. Edited January 15 by Gollum Lone Wolf and Laaloo 2
Gollum Posted January 15 Posted January 15 And trust me, Washi is just as bad as Jadeja in white ball. Banish that misfit forever or he will haunt us for next 15 years. tapandrun 1

The other part is if they will not force players to play test/all formats no one will play tests. Say if there is test batter who can score tons of runs but they will not get the kind of sponsorship hence and if there is batter who is only good in white-ball then they can not project them as world-class level batter or top batter. The jadeja issue is that none of the Ind bowler cannot even hold the bat, only jadeja and axar can be bit of batters hence they make it to the team as a transition batter between batters and bowlers. every tm/selectors will have to pick such player to bring some kind of balance to team where no batter can bowl and no bowler can bat with hardik an exception. Plus till now on jadeja/kolhi are the only fielders who can bring in some energy in the field or force a run-out or a good catch.
deepdynamo Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Jadeja is the biggest liability in modern day ODI cricket. Even Axar and Washington are too. If this setup is we are going to see in ODI WC 2027, then the disaster is waiting to happen. You can't go with 5 batsman + 2 allrounders + 4 bowlers. Instead of Jadeja (or Axar/Washi), Invest in Nitish Reddy. Make him project SA 2027. Rohit/Jaiswal Gill Kohli Iyer Nitish KL Pandya Rana Kuldeep/Varun Bumrah Siraj/Arshdeep

Sundar is worse than Jadeja, when jadeja came in the team he had 300 under his belt, jadeja was/is top fielder , he has more power game compared to sundar, and he turns the ball away from RH batter. Sundar is slow fielder, is an off-spinner other teams uses their specialist batters to bowl few overs of off-spin , even wk like phillips, denevon, stubbs can roll their arm and bowl some off spin and lastly do not think sundar is that good a batter. Gollum Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Time and again Aussies have proved that the mantra to win WCs is bat deep till 8, and aggressively (not Jadeja, Washi style tuk tuk) and manage with 3 frontline bowlers and part timers . Among recent WCs, conditions in 27 RSA will be closest to 15 WC which Aussies won without breaking a sweat, made it almost too boring. 2015 WC: Starc, Johnson, Hazlewood (former two can also whack a few)........Faulkner, Maxwell, Watson for remaining 20 overs Template is there right in front of you. From the most successful team of all time, tried and tested to a point that it works like a well-oiled machine even in high pressure games. Instead GG is wasting time with Sundar and Jadeja. When we need to get Rinku, Parag, NKR, Bawa types ready. Vk1, tapandrun and nitinbwj 1 2

Sadly, even the more sensible analysts have fallen for this trap that we need 6 bowling options and they'll use all kinds of mental gymnastics to justify their mediocre bowling allrounders. In 2026, other trophy contenders have Markram, Phillips, Head, Root types to send in a few overs of off spin if needed. And they are almost as effective as Washi. Now when you take into account the gulf in batting/fielding, makes Washi the most useless ODI cricketer going around. Vk1 and Nikhil_cric 2
