Pressure handling will only come with experience. No amount of playing Ranjis can prepare for WT20 knockouts. Its reckless when it fails only. Same approach was being lauded previously.  Every player has a role and an opener especially has no reason to change it. If Abhishek plays defensive, he'll waste deliveries but there's no guarantee of success. If anything he'll put pressure on himself and the team. 4 players are not repeatedly,as I said even someone as experienced as Kohli failed in 4-5 games in WT20 before the final.

Let him play full tourney and then assess. Others are failing too tbh

So you are comparing Kohli ‘s last stand with so called prime of this guy. Is he going to retire from t20s after this tournament too?

yesterday was not due to form , it was clearly his faulty technique . He is facing quality attack for first time and has been found wanting big time.

Its not prime. Hes just starting. Its his first world tournament. More than the attack its the pitches

He is 26  and he has no body of work in any other format to fall back on his experience. He is currently number 1 in Ranking before the cup started. 4 innings he faced less than ten deliveries. He does not trust himself to playout an over also. That is the problem for him.Even if he scores things might be over for the team.

Kohli on other hand is greatest player in whiteball cricket. So comparing his lack of runs with this guy's lack of runs was ridiculous.

People getting on his back more than necessary imo. It's a good learning curve for him. Shelve the goat comparisons and comments for now.

I think Indian fans are generally supportive of Abhi. Based on what I have seen on various SM platforms. Even on ICF, people aren't bashing him, just pointing out how stupid this comparison with Kohli/Yuvi is. For a guy who has scored 0,0,0, 15, he is being backed by everyone (TM, media, fans, ex-players). Which is good, I too think he will find form at the right time.

India too will bounce back, Axar, Varun, Tilak, Hardik etc. are far too good to keep underperforming like this. Even SKY should be able to lift his game and captaincy, has been too timid with batting and casual as captain till now.

More than the loss yesterday, our braindead approach of not playing for NRR is what has ticked everyone off I think. For many years, we haven't been in a situation where we depend on other results, this is a new experience for many Indian fans. Could have been easily avoidable had we lost by say, 30 runs.

Batting just didn't turn up yday like at all. I was there in the stadium and could tell within 3 overs we were not making that score.

But yes this kind of shock to the system in the form of a reality check which is not fatal could be good. Apart from Bumrah no one was on song and we *ed up selecting Sundar for some reason too.

I can't think of a world no.1 ranked batsman & also ATG world no.1 ranked batsman performing this badly in a world cup. His legacy will be ruined forever if he fails in the remaining matches. It does not matter how fast he makes centuries. Suryavanshi in the final made it happen.  Abhishek also failed in the IPL final.

Ramzan Mubarak Mariyam!!

As for gaining weight during fasting, remember the Marathi saying: "Ekadashi duppat khashi." "On fasting days, you end up eating twice as much."

- either because the meals are special, and when you eat, you binge.

- or because you are so hungry when you actually eat, you binge.

Abhishek sharma when he started i expected one failure every 3 games. Even the games where hhe did well i only expected 30 of 15 balls something like that. I never expected this guy showing tremendous consistency  reach no.1 ranking. And also ATG T20 no.1 ranking. With that approach he was not supposed to be consistent. He set that bar so high. So when he fails like this fall looks worse than it is.  I still think he should  rethink about "make up" game. Suryavanshi in some matches took some time and waited for bad balls and pounced on it.  Once he got the blood circulation going he started  hitting all parts of the ground just by reacting. He has to develop a fall back reaction game where he can step back for a while without hurting the scoring rate

Failures are part of the game but what shocked me was the way Abhishek played against SA. He slogged blindly like a tail-ender instead of a batter. He couldn't pick slower balls at all and was pre-meditating slogs! It was such a disappointing innings. I can't decide whether Tilak's slog was more disappointing or it was Abhishek looking like fish out of water. The pitch wasn't that bad and at the very least India should've made a fist of the chase and scoring 160+. But the way Abhishek batted, it was as if he and the team was chasing 250!

I concur, he played an over against Rabada that was just painful to watch. He has thrashed all world class bowlers before soo it's not a talent issue imo.

Confidence issue,it seems shattered and he's not able to recollect it

He, like many Indian players lacks grit, earlier it used to happen in KO games but Abhishek is feeling the heat even before it

I think he should be paired up with a right hander for his own good. Make the opposition run around each time the strike rotates. Right now having three left handers one after the other make the job of opposition very easy. They just have to stand where they are. Split Kishan and  Abhishek. Bring in Samson as a sacrificial goat.  Tilak/SKY at 4/5  Pandy at 6 Dube at 7 Axar at 8.

Looks to be mentally not there as 180 odd is not a big total in T20s on a decent pitch. In fact the whole team looked out of sorts. First bungling after having SA 20/3, and then the batters were simply not there.

Not just Abhishek, Kishan looked poor struggling against Markaram, Tilak's sot was shocking. Today was the day he was supposed to bat deep after the fall of an early wkt, and that's the shot he played! I don't expect much from SKY as he hasn't deserved a spot in the team for 2+ years now. Iyer deserved to play at no. 4 but just like Jaiswal, he doesn't have the backing of right people. And selection of Sundar over Axar shows how muddled the team think-tank is.
