vvvslaxman Posted February 22 Posted February 22 There is a method to chase big totals. Afghanistan looked better than us. Gurbaz had excellent body balance when he took down the entire South African bowling unit on his own. Our players were losing shape being unable to adjust. Logically they should have bided their time and got used to pace of the surface and then pulled the trigger. This was a horrible orchestration of chase. With all the wild swinging we were only 29 in 5 overs you could have taken 30 runs with 30 singles. DOn't these guys have any plan , method to chase totals? Even in Asia cup India needlessly lost 3 wickets for 20 runs while chasing a modest total. Do we have a chasing problem? If Abhishek doesn't come off we are pretty much witless. speedster 1

maniac Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I think Virat Kohli masked our chasing problems. I am no fan boy but a lot of things point to that. We were known as a chasing strong side with Dhoni and Jadeja in the team. Food for thought.

maniac Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Rohit had kickstarted the juggernaut since wc 2023, yes we had that bad day in final but still on autopilot we were winning tournaments like WT20, CT. That momentum carried into Asia cup etc but that engine seems to be dying down now. I was extremely pissed off at the casual attitude instead of ruthless aggression in India. Instead of knocking out the Pakistanis, giving over to Rinku Singh, casual fielding etc struggling against Netherlands, Namibia, USA and giving them an opening. I hope it has enough juice to take it to semis and beyond but this team is crackling. iluv80085 and Ultimate_Game 1 1
The Realist Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Have an overrated/over-hyped problem too. Limited and one-dimensional team waay over-hyped after beating up teams in bilaterals which are just glorified friendlies. Who cares how many runs you make or wickets you take when you can't hack it in the pressure of a tournament. Batters who can't bowl Bowlers who can't bat And literally nobody can field or catch Ultimate_Game 1

The new batters don’t know how to chase even 170. maniac 1

Our batters cannot chase and our bowlers lose their intensity way too soon in first dig. They need scoreboard pressure to work India should only bat first.
Manucrick Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) India struggles to chase anything over 160. Their best bet is to bat first and consistently set targets in the 190+ range Edited February 23 by Manucrick
speedster Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Seems like a mental issue, different format but we can't chase anything in tests either, what are the likes of GG and the rest upto, we seem to be getting worse irrespective of the format

Tillu Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Losing the openers early is putting a lot of pressure on the incoming batsmen. That 187 is a par score on this ground. SA were scoring at close to 6 runrate after 8 overs. The openers especially Abhishek need to preserve his wicket for the first few overs. He is too drunk on his 190 Strikerate in the bilaterals and want to do the same in tournaments which is not possible.
govinda Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) If our tullas learn to stay calm in first 2 overs instead of trying to hit every ball for six we can chase 200 also Edited February 24 by govinda

rish Posted February 24 Posted February 24 In T20s you have to pick players who are in form. There is no adjustment period to get yourself in form. The entire top order is out of form. India will lose one more match atleast.
